The Patrick Henry Post
February 5th, 2021
Welcome to February!
This week we kicked off the first week of Black History Month! Our students are busy preparing for February 26th, the date of our Black History Month Talent Show. The theme of our celebration is "Honoring Our Past while Celebrating Our Future." Our students are researching people, events, and movements that have shaped American culture, politics, and life, with a focus on the incredible work of our African American brothers and sisters to make our country a better, safer, and more inclusive place. As they research the triumphs and challenges of our past, our students will let the information inspire a performance of their own. They might choose to sing a song, recite a poem, recreate a speech, or create a piece of artwork. They will present their work proudly at our virtual Talent Show on Microsoft Teams. Be on the lookout for your invitation!
In the meantime, take a look below for a sneak peak from 5th grade, as well as some local St. Louis performances and celebrations to kick off Black History Month!
