September's Counseling Focus
This month, our RES Counselor, Mrs. Britt, has visited all classrooms to teach lessons about our character trait and mindset of the month.
Students learned about respect and think about how everyone can learn in different ways!
September Kindness Calendar for Students!
In addition to our monthly character trait and mindset, our RES students, families and staff will continue to practice acts of kindness all year long. Click here to view and print the kindness calendar for September. Paper copies of the kindness calendar have been sent home.
Students: For every kindness task our students complete, they will check it off their calendars. Students may return their calendar to their homeroom teacher, or to Mrs. Britt, on Tuesday, October 1st.
Students with 20 or more completed tasks will join Mrs. Britt at lunch to paint kindness rocks for our RES Rock Gardens in the front of the school!
Mindful Tip of the Week
Wiggle and Freeze Game
This game is a fun way for kids to start practicing mindfulness and improve their awareness of bodily sensations using movement.
It involves wiggling, moving around, shaking, stomping, or dancing until you say, “Freeze!”
Once everyone stops moving, encourage children to pay close attention to the sensations that they feel in their body.
You can repeat this game several times and can even play music and pause when it’s time to freeze.
