Dimond NewsBlast
April 30, 2024
Dear Dimond Families!
Congratulations Seniors! There are eight days remaining for seniors with May 10th being the last day. We are excited about graduating our seniors on Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 PM.
We will be on our Assembly Schedule for Friday, May 3rd for the Crossover Assembly. Please see the attached schedule for more information.
Senior Fun Day!
Senior Fun Day will be held Friday, May 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Dimond High School on the football field and in the old gym. Thank you to those who have provided donations for the event!
Senior Parents
For those attending Senior Fun Day on Friday please plan to sign in at the main office to get a visitor's badge before heading to the fields.
For those attending the Crossover Assembly, we will have physical sign-in sheets for you to sign upon arrival! Please give yourself a few extra minutes to park and sign in before the assembly. See you there!
Updated Visitor Policy
Our school has been piloting a new visitor management system. You may have encountered this extra layer of security if you have visited the school lately during school hours. Upon entry, visitors, volunteers, and ASD staff whose primary location is outside of our campus must sign in using the self-serve kiosk.
As of Monday, April 22nd, 2024, all adult visitors at Dimond High School are required to present and scan a government-issued photo ID upon entering the school. This adjustment to our visitor management policy is a significant step forward in strengthening our school’s safety protocols.
More information can be found in the attached New Visitor Management PDF.
SENIOR INFORMATION!

Donations can be accepted in the form of cash and checks (checks made out to “Senior Fun Day”) and can be dropped off in our front office or given directly to Ms. Hunt in the Activities office.
Donations are also tax deductible, please contact Danielle Essary at essary_danielle@asdk12.org for further details or with any questions (If you would like a receipt for tax deduction purposes, please donate via check.)
AK Star Assessment Results
The Alaska System of Academic Readiness (AK Star) and the Alaska Science Assessment were administered a few weeks ago. The results of the AK Star and the Alaska Science Assessments are generally reported each fall.
Additional support resources for parents and guardians, including how to access your student’s scores in ParentConnect are located on the Parent Connect Assessment Results & Interpretive Guides section of the ASD Assessment website. Additional information can be found, on the district’s AK Star webpage at AK Star Alaska System.
Summer School 2024
Summer School registration info is now available, there are forms in the curriculum office, front office, and by each counselor's office. You can find more info on the ASD Summer Options page. Dimond will be an "in-person" site for credit recovery (students must've failed a course.) Counselors will prioritize graduation requirements when signing up students.
Please encourage students to see their counselor before school, at lunch, and after school regarding summer school. We'd like them to stay in their classes as much as possible this time of year.

Early Drop-Off Opportunities for New School Start Times
To support families, there will be some opportunities for early student drop-off, similar to what was done at the start of this year on PLC Mondays. Schools that are open for early drop-off will have staff on hand to supervise students inside in a warm, safe environment. https://www.asdk12.org/schoolstarttimes
Please see this link https://www.asdk12.org/schoolstarttimes for more information on start times. This information will run continuously for the remainder of the year.
Kindest Regards,
Principal Johnson-Harris
