School Newsletter Term 2, Week 4
Friday 24th May 2024
Kia ora everyone
We are confirming our Ministry-directed Teacher Only Day for Tuesday, June 4, 2024. This dedicated day will allow our staff to focus on professional development in Structured Literacy, Math, and Writing. Additionally, we will explore the new Tahurangi Ministry resource, which promises to enhance our teaching strategies and student learning experiences.
We are eagerly anticipating the Cross Country event next week. It’s a great opportunity for our students to showcase their athletic skills and perseverance. We encourage all students to participate and parents to come and support our young athletes.
Ki o Rahi training has begun and is in full swing. This traditional Māori game is an excellent way for students to stay active while learning about cultural heritage. We’re excited to see our students engage in this dynamic and strategic sport.
Winter sports are well underway, with students participating in various activities such as rugby, netball, and soccer. These sports not only promote physical fitness but also teach valuable lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.
Our PTA is continuing their efforts to raise funds through pie sales. This initiative is crucial for supporting various school activities and resources. We encourage everyone to contribute by purchasing pies, which will help fund future projects and events. Your support is greatly appreciated.
The Board of Trustees is currently focused on the allocation of funds for classroom improvements. These enhancements are set to be implemented with a quick turnaround, ensuring that our classroom spaces are upgraded efficiently. The improvements will create a better learning environment for our students and provide them with the necessary tools and resources to continue to succeed.
We are committed to fostering a strong sense of community and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and involved in our school’s activities and decisions. Your participation and support play a vital role in the success of our initiatives.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we are making strides in providing a well-rounded and enriching educational experience for our students.

King's Birthday and TOD in Week 6
School will not be open on 3rd and 4th of June
A reminder to whānau that we have King's Birthday on Monday 3rd June which is a public holiday. There will be no school on this day. The next day (Tuesday 4th June) many schools in the Manawatū will be holding a Teacher Only Day where the Ministry have instructed us to work on curriculum development within our kura. Our school will also be closed on this day. We look forward to seeing everyone again on Wednesday 5th June.
Bringing in spare clothes
Please can parents of younger children please send in spare changes of clothing; undies, pants, tops etc. These can just stay in their bags in case they have an accident. We are having quite a few toileting issues and our supplies (undies and pants) are not being returned when we lend them out. If your child likes to play on the field or the sandpit, they also need a change of clothes in their bag in case they get muddy - especially on wet days.
