Principal's Message
Dear Thurston Elementary Families,
As we approach the end of another incredible school year, I am filled with excitement for all that we have accomplished together. The 2023 - 2024 academic year has been filled with unforgettable moments, growth and achievements.
To our incredible students, congratulations on a year filled with curiosity, hard work, and resilience. You have embraced new challenges, learned valuable lessons both inside and outside the classroom and demonstrated exceptional growth.
To our supportive parents and families, thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. Your partnership and involvement in our school community make a significant difference in the lives of our students.
May your summer be filled with joy, relaxation, and memorable moments with loved ones. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer!
Warm regards,
Amber Mitchell, Principal

Thank you, volunteers!
We are ever so thankful for the people who help make our school the welcoming home that it is. Our staff are GREAT, and they are focused on getting as much out of each day as possible, but they all have limited hours in the day. We have a great group of volunteers who pick up the slack! To those who come often, and to those who are only able to help for 30 minutes occasionally, and to those who work on projects at home, and to our FANTASTIC Parent Teacher Group.... we give a hearty thank you!!!!
SPARK Camp
If you haven't registered your student(s) for the SPARK summer camp, there may still be room! Visit https://www.springfield.k12.or.us/academics/summer for more information and the registration document.
Kinder Search
If you know of a student who lives in our attendance area and will be 5 on or before September 1st, please have their family contact our office. We hope to reach as many as possible prior to leaving for summer, in order for those families to receive our back to school mailing in August.
Annual Verification/Registration
As part of the registration process, each year we ask current families to verify the information we have on their child. As in previous years, we are completing that process through ParentVue. If you have trouble logging into your ParentVue account, please feel free to contact our office; we'll be happy to help you get started!
If you know now that your child will not be returning to Thurston Elementary in the fall, please contact Kathy to let us know.
End of year reminders
Please help us close out the school year by doing the following:
* Return all library books or pay fine
* Complete Annual Review through ParentVue
* 1st and 2nd grades - return district-supplied computer device if your child takes it home (in some classrooms teachers keep these in the room, and will return them)
* Pick up remaining medication from Health Room
* Check Lost and Found for missing items
Cheetah of the Month
Heroes of the Hallway
We are looking for volunteers for Field Day. If you didn't have the chance to volunteer for a Heroes of the Hallway event previously, we may have a slot for you at one of those times. We've reached out for volunteers through the Raptor database. If you haven't yet completed a volunteer application, click here to be forwarded to the Raptor app, and let us know of your interest in Field Day.
