OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Event 2024
Strongsville Middle School was host to the Ohio Music Education Association District Large Group Adjudicated Event (contest) this weekend where two of our SMS music groups participated. We are proud to announce that the 7th grade band received an “excellent” rating and the chamber strings received a “superior” rating. These are the two highest ratings that can be achieved. We are also thankful for the approximately 35 SMS students as well as additional parents & high school students who volunteered their time to help make the event a success. All throughout the weekend, we received compliments about how wonderful our middle school student volunteers were. We are very proud of how you represented our school and how much you helped our many visitors.
At this event, bands, orchestras and choirs perform a program of three pieces for a panel of judges who provide educational feedback and a rating on the performance. SMS was host to a total of 14 music ensembles from 8 different schools for a total of 800 students!

ARTS in STRONGSVILLE
The Arts In Strongsville’s Chalk Walk event planned for tomorrow (Saturday • May 11) is being canceled due to weather. The forecast predictions show rain for several hours Saturday morning. The ground and pavement will be soaked. The temperature is expected to be in the 50s. These are not ideal conditions for this event. We will look to reschedule later in the summer. We hope to announce a makeup date soon.
Even though the rain has canceled the event, we invite you to chalk on your own (in your driveway, sidewalks, wherever!) and post your chalk masterpieces to our Facebook page – just search for Arts In Strongsville. We look forward to seeing you later in the year for this free, fun family event. Stay dry, Strongsville!
