PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
I am excited to share with you some of the amazing extracurricular offerings that we have at Eagle Crest Elementary School. We believe in both focusing on traditional academics and extending learning in meaningful ways. Our extracurricular activities provide students with the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build relationships with their peers and teachers.
Here is a brief overview of some of our current extracurricular offerings:
AAA (Academic Achievement Academy): Grades 1-5, literacy focus
VEX IQ Competitive Robotics: Grades 4-5 (application required)
Art Club: Grades 3-5, Fabulous Fibers
Diamond Art with Mrs. Kerbel: Grades 2-5
100 Mile Club: Morning running for health and well-being, grades K-5
Mwebaza Club: Partnering with our sister school in Uganda, grades 3-5
Eco Eagles: Environmental advocacy, grades 4-5
Handchime Choir: Grades 4-5, the only handchime choir in the district
Equations: Grades 3-5 mathematical problem-solving club (coming soon)
We are proud to have a variety of extracurricular offerings that are open to students throughout our school, regardless of their skill level or experience. We encourage all students to get involved in an extracurricular activity that interests them. It's a great way for them to learn new skills, make new friends, and have fun!
Did you know?
Students who participate in extracurricular activities are more likely to have higher academic achievement, better attendance, and fewer disciplinary issues.
Extracurricular activities can also help students develop important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
In addition to the benefits to individual students, extracurricular activities can also help to create a more vibrant and supportive school community.
If you have any questions about our extracurricular offerings, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's teacher.
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Has your child lost something at school already this year? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! Our Lost and Found Cart is especially full right now, as we've been experiencing cooler mornings and hot afternoons. Students are shedding their jackets and sweaters by midday, and it's easy to forget these items.
Please stop by the Lost and Found Cart tomorrow (Friday) before or after school to see if your child's missing item is there. It will be located in front of the school.
We're always happy to help reunite families with their lost belongings. Feel free to stop by the front office anytime before or after school to come and check the cart.
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

We appreciate the support of our school and really love any excuse to eat tacos! And thank you to all the families who ate at Wahoo’s and helped the PTO (at no extra cost to you!)

Staff requests for PTO funds are made throughout the year to cover additional programs, activities, and educational experiences that fall outside the school’s budget. All staff funding requests over $200 are shared for an online vote. Parents and guardians of Eagle Crest students, along with ECES teachers and staff, belong to the PTO and have the ability to cast one vote for each teacher/staff request.
Mrs. Beckett is kicking off the Reading Challenge for the fourth year! The library is requesting $500 to be used at the Scholastic Book Fair to purchase books for the school-wide Reading Challenge. Click here to vote by 5 PM on Sunday, October 1st.

KIDS NIGHT OUT
This year Kids Night Out is partnering with a club at Silver Creek High School called Peace and Service for Africa. PSA raises money for the International Peace Initiative who puts the money toward kids in Maru, Kenya who are looking for higher education. With the money made from both of these, we hope to support more kids who are looking for higher education. All the profits from KNO will be put towards PSA.This project is important to us because we have seen and experienced the benefits Kids Night Out gives to children. Kids Night Out provides a great place for your child to socialize in a healthy and safe environment. They get to try new things and have multiple outlets to express themselves and have fun. Ellery and I greatly enjoyed going to Kids Night Out when we were little and are excited to run it this year. The reason why we are supporting Peace and Service for Africa is because we have both been a part of the club. The club has also helped with making friendships and connecting students with other students across the world. It’s important that everyone is given the same educational opportunities but that is not always true in some places. We want to help bridge this gap and support kids in Maru, Kenya seeking a higher education.
