Dear RTMS Families,
It's hard to believe that summer is almost over... we still have a couple of weeks, though! I hope that families are enjoying the weather, and are having opportunities for rest and relaxation before the new school year begins.
There has been a lot of construction work going on at the middle school in our parking lots. Our fingers are crossed that it will all be completed on time, but please keep an eye on your emails in case there are further delays. Our students will be welcome to come into the building to pick up their schedules, walk the halls, drop off supplies, and practice their lockers the week prior to our first day. As the parking lot is currently not accessible, we kindly ask that you park in the neighborhood, or the church parking lot next door, and walk over to Door 17 by the greenhouses in the back of our building.
The building will be open to students and parents from 9:00 a.m.-12:00p.m., and/or from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on the following days:
- August 8th for 6th graders
- August 9th for 7th/8th graders
We are looking for volunteers to help direct students to classrooms, and to help with lockers on these days. If you have an older student who is looking for service hours (or just willing to help!), please let me know (mkrall@rtsd26.org). Any time they are able to volunteer would be greatly appreciated. 😊
Our building office is open officially, as of today, with the return of our admin assistants, Mrs. Esparza-Viveros and Ms. Escutia. They will be happy to answer your questions, and to collect any paperwork that you need to turn into the nurse for the school year.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns in the next couple of weeks.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary Krall-Meske
Principal

School Breakfast/Lunch
If buying school breakfast/lunch -
- MealTime Online <-- go here to sign in or set up a new account
- Create & Add to Your Child's Meal Account: MealTime is an easy online system to add to and keep track of your child's account used for breakfast & lunch. It can be set up to auto-reload too! You need to know your child's 5-digit school ID number. Student ID numbers can be found when logging into the parent portal. All families have received a paper mailer about Food Services for the coming year.
- MealTime Online Application Guide (English)
- Any students requiring meal modifications need to complete a form with the school nurse. If this is something your child needs, please contact Lindsay Veller after August 8, 2022.
Building Tours
**With our parking lot construction going on, we will need families to park in the neighborhood, or in the church parking lot next door, and to walk over to Door 17 by the greenhouses for these optional tours.**
Please use the SignUp Genius below to select a day/time to come in and walk the building with an administrator. Please only sign up for one slot; one slot is intended for one student/family. Again, these tours are optional.
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B45AEAC22A2F94-rtms1
Schedules and locker assignments will not be given during tours, but will be available on August 8th for 6th graders, and August 9th for 7th/8th graders. The building will be open to students and parents from 9:00 a.m.-12:00p.m. and/or from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on these two days to walk their schedule, practice their locker combination, and to drop off supplies in their locker.
Don't forget: Summer Reading!!
It's not too late!
What is SUMMER READING?
All RTMS students are required to read one book over the summer. Each grade level has a specific list of reading selections from which the students will choose.
Then what happens?
Upon returning to school in the fall, students will complete an assignment or discussion in their ELA classes.
Why Summer Reading?
Summer reading is an excellent way for students to demonstrate independence and responsibility; those who return having met the requirement show a zeal for scholarship.
