Building the Bobcat Community
Good evening Beck Community,
As the new school year kicks off, it’s totally normal for kids to take a few weeks to settle into their new routines. Middle school comes with new schedules, classes, and friendships, so a little patience goes a long way during this time. Encourage your child to talk about any worries they have, and remind them that it’s okay if it takes some time to get comfortable. Getting back into good sleep habits is also super important—having a regular bedtime can make a big difference in how focused and energized they feel each day. With some time and support, they’ll find their rhythm and be back in the school groove!
Advisory
Our theme for September is all about building community in our middle school. Throughout the month, students will take part in activities during Advisory to get to know one another and set expectations for how they’ll treat each other. We’re a diverse community, and this month, we’re also celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Students will learn about the rich culture and traditions of Hispanic and Latino people through discussions and activities.
Back to School Nights
Thank you to the 6th grade parents/guardians who attended Back to School Night. 7th and 8th grade parents/guardians, your turn is this coming Wednesday. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers, learn about the curriculum, and get important information for the upcoming year.
Here are the details for Back to School Night:
- Grade 7: September 18 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm (please note the time change)
- Grade 8: September 18 from 7:45pm to 8:45pm (please note the time change)
Traffic Advisory: We anticipate heavy traffic on the night of Grade 7 and Grade 8 Back to School Night. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for parking and getting to the event. Carpooling or using alternative transportation options is encouraged to help alleviate congestion.
Beck Security Drills & Information
Bus Evacuation Drills: Each year, schools are required to conduct a bus evacuation drill. Our drills will occur next week when students arrive to school on Monday & Tuesday (weather permitting). Please know this may impact traffic at arrival.
Security Drills: Each month, schools are required to conduct 2 security drills. One is a fire drill and one must be a security drill such as a Lockout or Shelter in Place. All teachers and staff are prepared to follow our drill procedures. We conduct our drills as efficiently as possible so that our classroom instruction is only minimally interrupted.
Wishing you a successful and enjoyable school year!
All the Best,
Rebecca Metzger, Principal

Transportation Information
Your child should be at the bus stop at least 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. When notified in advance, the Transportation Department will attempt to send an automated message for individual route delays of 20 minutes or more. School buses are scheduled to depart approximately 10-15 minutes after the end bell time. Please allow for some fluctuation in pick-up and drop-off times, particularly during the first three weeks of school as students become familiar with boarding the buses and Drivers at the Middle, Elementary, and Preschools work to secure seating charts.
Throughout the school year, daily pick-up and drop-off times may fluctuate due to weather, traffic, construction, etc. We thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 856-489-5851. For late bus runs at the Middle and High School, please contact the appropriate transportation contractor for Late Route inquiries.
