TCAPS Montessori Weekly Reader:
HOWL Everyday with Harmony, Optimism, Wisdom & Leadership!
October 18, 2024 Head of School News & Notes
Dear Montessori Timberwolves Families and Friends,
Monday is picture day (see ordering information below). On Tuesday, students can make their first deposits with our TBA Student-Run Credit Union. If your student is interested in opening a TBA bank account, you can follow the paperwork sent home in your child’s folder to get started. Monthly deposit days will be on the school calendar (additional paperwork is available in the office).
The Adolescent Community is organizing two fundraisers this fall to offset the costs of their Spring field trip. Higher Grounds will be from October 22nd until November 7th. Families can order online with this link; our code is TCAPS2024. Panera Bread will be on our first conference date, November 7th! Panera will donate 20% of sales for people who use the code FUND4U. This is the link to the brochure. We hope you can join some fellow Timberwolves for a fun dinner out while supporting our AC program!
The end of the month brings us to Halloween. Some people in our community celebrate this day with family traditions and events such as dressing up and trick or treating. At our school, we have a literacy celebration on this day. Students, Pre-School through AC, are invited to wear a costume that is connected to a book. Costumes do not need to be expensive or elaborate. Weapons such as swords and lightsabers, masks, and gore must be saved for out-of-school activities. It is TCAPS policy to save candy and other treats for after-school events. There is no school on Friday, November 1.
Finally, I wish you a peaceful weekend. Thursday was the hunter's moon, so its gravitational pull may have brought out spirited personalities and emotions. Our staff feels fortunate to be part of people’s journeys in life and the effects of the moon's stages —but we may also be a little more ready for the weekend! 😉
Peace,
Tracy
Shout out to all of our amazing parents who attend our Montessori 101 night of discovery. It was wonderful to spend this time with you.

A Montessori Minute
This week, take a quick moment to read this brief article: Montessori at Home - Practical Life. The article was written by our parent education presenter, Lisa Thauvette and is a great read for those of us who want to carry Montessori over into our home enviornments.

Updates & Reminders
- TCAPS can send text alerts to staff and families provided that they have opted in to receive text alerts from the district. This will allow the district and schools to share important and timely information with staff and families via text messaging, including snow day alerts. All text messages will come from the same number (87569). If you do not currently receive text messages, you can always opt in at any time by sending the word YES to 87569 and make sure your phone number is on file with the school. Texting is limited to contact numbers tied to the district’s staff and student databases, therefore is not available to the general public.
- TCAPS Montessori Timberwolves participated in the All-City Cross Country Meet, and our own Willow, 6th grade, took home the win!
- Items Needed: Our Toddler and Casa wing is looking for some items for enrichment activities. We need gently used or new items such as, wooden puzzles, dress-up clothing, play food, etc. (in good condition), and new learning toys. We prefer items made from natural resources such as wood and fabric. Thank you for your consideration.
