• Reminder to join us tonight for the PTO's annual Back To School Ice Cream Social. This is a great time to come and celebrate the start of a new school year. You'll have the chance to meet some new friends and staff members and reconnect with some old ones. Plus, who doesn't love free ice cream?? The social will run from 5:00-6:00 pm. I hope to see you there!
  

• We are now looking for another family representative for the Local Education Council (LEC). The LEC is an advisory board to the principal, overseeing the school improvement plan, consulting on the budget, and working with school staff and community members to ensure we are providing the best educational experience possible. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please let me know.

• The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 28th for grades K-6. School begins at 8:30 with our First Day Celebration! On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of that week, dismissal will be at 12:30. From 1:00-3:30, teachers will be holding intake conferences with any families that would like to participate. This provides the time for families and teachers to meet each other, share their hopes for the year, and get to know each other a bit. This home/school partnership is critical to supporting students throughout the year. If you are interested in participating in a conference, please contact Sandy White in the front office, unless you have heard directly from your child(ren)'s teacher.

• The 2024-2025 Student/Family Handbook can be found at https://colrain.mohawktrailschools.org/accnt_381003/site_391894/Documents/Colrain-Handbook.pdf. Please read through it and then click on the button below to sign off on the form indicating your receipt and acknowledgement of it.

• When your child comes home from school on Wednesday, they will have registration forms with them. Please review them and make any necessary changes. Please send it back with them on Thursday, so that we can update our system and be sure we have all the correct, most recent information.

• After School Program Update: I am pleased to announce that I am working on staffing for our after school program. We will not be able to open the program until all the paperwork and background checks are complete, so we won't be ready to go for a couple of weeks. I will keep you updated as we progress through the process.

• Our Before School Program will start on Thursday, August 29th at 7:30. The program is open each day for an hour before the start of school. Most days, that means it will open at 7:30. If there is a delayed opening for any reason, the program will begin an hour before the scheduled start of school.

• We have a large number of COVID tests available that will expire in mid-October. If you would like some, please contact Mrs. White in the front office and we will be happy

Please read through this carefully to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and families.

If you are transporting your child, please pull around slowly to the back parking lot and line up in the car line. A staff member will come and get your child(ren) from your vehicle and will bring them to your vehicle in the afternoon. Please then wait patiently for the line to move. Please do not go around cars, even if you are running late. The last thing anyone wants is for someone to get hurt! In the mornings, staff members will help your child unbuckle or get out of their car seat if necessary. In the afternoon, staff members will bring your child to your car, but we ask you to please make sure they are securely buckled in to their seat or car seat.

Please do not get out of your car in the car line. If you need to come into the school for any reason, please find a parking space and then come in. This will keep the line moving more quickly for everyone.

If your child is riding the bus, drop-off/pick-up will happen in the front of the school.
