Hello Hoover Families,

Today (Sunday, March 2nd) is the last day to order spirit wear on our Hoover Spirit Gear site. Products will be delivered to students/staff the week of March 17th. This is the last chance to purchase Hoover gear this year, so if you haven't bought your student grade-level t-shirts for field trips/experiences and Track & Field, this is your last chance.

We are so close to our Read-Athon goal! The last day for this fundraiser is Tuesday, March 4th. Thank you to everyone who has helped in this fundraiser, we greatly appreciate it!

***Hoover Read-Athon Update*** Our last day is Tuesday, March 4th!

Way to go, Hoover!!! We are at 98%! That means we earned a schoolwide Stuffed Animal Day, our fabulous PE Teacher, Mr. White, will spend the day on wheels (roller skates or rollerblades), and Mr. Kelley gets to be squirted with SILLY STRING! We are SO CLOSE to turn Mrs. Strusz into an "ice cream sundae"---sprinkles, whipped cream and cherries!!

Last day to order is March 2nd!

We did it! Our very first Hoover Blood Drive was a huge success! We exceeded our goal and collected 32 units of blood, which can help save up to nearly 100 lives! Thank you to our donors and volunteers. We are so proud of everyone, especially our 4th graders, who did a great job caring for our donors! Click here for more pictures!

Educators Rising NWSISD operates as a component of a national organization committed to preparing future educators with the necessary experience and skills to excel in the classroom and in various educational careers. This program begins with high school students, providing passionate individuals with practical teaching experience, fostering their interest in the profession, and aiding them in developing the critical skills required for success. The result of this initiative is a robust pipeline of accomplished educators who are well-equipped to make a meaningful impact, both in the lives of their students and within the broader education community. Hoover hosted high school students from Buffalo High School last week. Thank you to our Hoover teachers who hosted a student and showed them how special it is to be an educator.

Mr. White gave our soccer players pinnies and they absolutely loved them! We had cheering from other students and even a cheerleading clinic going on during the game. We're working on sportsmanship so the two players who showed the most will be the captains all next week. Students recite "The Good Sports Code" before the game. Click here for more pictures!

Students in 3rd grade conquered their fears to take on the ninja course, using their muscles and regulating their breath to make sure they had built stamina and endurance throughout their experience! Click here for more pictures!

Reading Bridge pairs trained volunteers with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders to practice reading together at once a week at the library. Click on the links provided and reach out to the libraries for more information.

Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.

The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.

If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.

February was a crazy month! Thank you so much to all who volunteered to make everything Hoover did in February possible! We had I love to read week, multiple field experience days, dental sealant program, the blood drive, every meal, workroom projects and more!

March is here and hopefully this beautiful weather we've had intends to stay with us in March! We have more field experience dates this month, Chipotle dining night, Bingo night and picture day happening this month. You can find sign ups for the volunteer opportunities we have HERE.

If signing up for field experiences, you will want to reach out to your child's teacher. Please make sure when signing up for field experiences you are watching your email. I will notify you via email if any paperwork is needed, if you've been selected for the field experience or if you aren't if we have too many sign up and will also notify you via email with reminders like arrival time, if lunch is needed, etc.

Spring Break is just around the corner. I will be out of the office starting March 7th and will return on March 18th. I will respond to any calls and emails at that time.

Just a reminder that any volunteer 18 years or older must complete the volunteer application and background check each school year. Those 17 and younger only need to complete the volunteer application each school year.

Bingo Night - March 21

Bingo Night seems to be a family favorite event, so we are doing it again after we get back from Spring Break. Save the date for March 21!

Spring Carnival - May 2

We are entering planning mode; can you believe it!! It is the time of year that we start to solicit donations for our raffle and find the best deals for game prizes. We need a bunch of volunteers for this event, and we’d love your help too.

HundredX – May 12 through June 10

Our HundredX Fundraiser is back this school year. It's great because families and supporters don't have to buy anything. They only need to complete surveys about their recent shopping or business interactions.

Dining Nights

We have two upcoming dining nights on the calendar, Monday, February 17 at Smashburger and Wednesday, March 5 at Chipotle.

During the school year, it can be hard for families to find ways to connect with each other. Adults are busy with work and other obligations; children are busy with school, homework, and other activities. Building connections into your day can be as simple as including your child in daily activities like running errands, preparing a meal, or playing together.

Another option is to go to https://www.boxtops4education.com/ to learn more about downloading the app to scan receipts for box tops for Hoover Elementary.

The Anoka-Hennepin School District allows qualifying flyers from nonprofit groups to be distributed at school and sent home with students. These flyers have gone through the district approval process. A virtual gallery of flyers is also available. These events, classes and activities are not sponsored or endorsed by Anoka-Hennepin Schools.

This does NOT change our regular flyer policies or procedures! To have a flyer posted, the organization still needs to go through the process, be approved, and deliver paper flyers to schools in our district.
