A Message from Principal P
Dear CMS Families,
As we prepare to welcome students back on September 4, I wanted to share some quick reminders and updates to help your family get ready for the upcoming school year. If you're unable to attend Locker Night, don't worry—our teachers and staff will be in the halls to welcome students, assist them with their lockers, and help them find their classes. Seventh-grade teams will also participate in activities to help students get acclimated to the building.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Better Together,
Ms. P

WIN (What I Need Now)
Previously known as "Team Time" at WGIS and "Morning IT" at CMS, this time is dedicated to ensuring students receive the support they need to be successful throughout the school day and year. To create a consistent and common language that reflects the purpose of this time, we are now calling it WIN time for all students in grades K-8.
At CMS:
- Students are assigned a homeroom with one of their teachers. Attendance is required for both homeroom and WIN time.
- Schedule: Homeroom begins at 7:25 AM, followed by WIN time, which starts immediately after announcements and ends at 8:05 AM.
- During WIN time, students may be sent to one of their other teachers for various reasons, such as making up assignments, reviewing or reteaching material, or participating in extension activities. Students are required to go to the requesting teacher's homeroom after announcements.
Last year, students were surveyed about WIN (formerly Morning IT), and they consistently provided positive feedback. They found this time extremely beneficial, as it allowed them to prepare for the day, finish assignments, and seek help from teachers when needed. You will find additional information about WIN in the summer mailer.
