SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice - Peace and Mental Health
Happy New Year! The start of a new year offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect on achievements and set new goals for the months ahead. This is the perfect time to encourage your child to embrace new opportunities and take ownership of their learning journey.
Setting Goals
Help your child set specific, realistic goals for the year—whether academic, social, or personal. Breaking them down into smaller steps makes them more achievable, whether it's improving a grade, mastering a skill, or building stronger friendships. Check out this Big Life Journal article about tools you can use to help your teen set goals this new year!
Opportunities for Growth
The new year brings fresh chances for exploration—joining clubs, taking on leadership roles, or volunteering. These experiences foster valuable skills and a sense of accomplishment.
How Parents Can Help
Stay engaged: Check in regularly on school progress and activities.
Be supportive: Celebrate small victories to keep motivation high.
Encourage balance: Help your child find balance between school, social life, and downtime.
Here's to a successful 2025!
Counselling Corner
We'd like to take the time to mention that we offer a range of counselling services at MCHS. Whether it be for academic purposes or reasons other than their school work, students can get help. See the contact information below for details.

Science in Action!
Science 10 students are bringing science to life! Students recently conducted an exciting Physics experiment exploring energy and efficiency using various spherical objects and the force of gravity. By observing how different materials and sizes influenced motion and energy transfer, they gained valuable insights into fundamental physical principles.

How Long Can You Hold Your Breath?
Baptism of the Lord - 1st Sunday after Epiphany
I've made it to maybe, like, 90 seconds. The world record is like 24 minutes. (I think I said 10 minutes in the video. Way more than that!) No matter how long you can go, eventually you have to come up for air or you die. Jesus' baptism was showing us that we need to die to all our old stuff and come up out of the water a new person. Just like he did when he died on the cross.
