Husky Happenings - Week of October 28
Hi Everyone,
What a wonderful turn out we had at Trunk or Treat on Friday. It was so nice to see so many families and staff either attending or with decorated trunks. This is one example of the many family friendly PTO events available throughout the year, so please check the calendar below because new events are added and watch for notices home. Kindergarten also had a very successful field trip to Salisbury Farm where they picked pumpkins, had a hayride, and the children even got to pet a goat. I will add pictures below as I receive them. The next trip coming up is Grade 4 this week on Wednesday to the State House. On Thursday, Halloween, children are welcome to wear black, orange, or purple if they'd like to but no costumes.
Report cards are coming soon. Grades close 11/1 and report cards will be distributed through the parent portal on 11/15. Please make sure you are able to access the portal so you can review the report card when the time comes. Report cards are best viewed on a computer. Some parents are able to view on a phone but others are not. I will add the directions to access the portal below along with the help desk email. If you are new to Coventry, you may not be aware that there are no parent teacher conferences but teachers do communicate with you about any concerns they may have through emails, calls, or in person meetings. If you want to meet with a teacher, please contact that teacher directly and they will make arrangements to meet.
Please see the calendar below for now school dates and the date for picture retakes. I will add November menus next week.
Winter Coats
We were the lucky recipients of a very generous donation of children's winter coats from Coat Angels, RI, a local nonprofit. The coats are brand new and a variety of sizes and colors. Please email me, Mrs. Petrarca, or nurse Deb if interested. All inquiries will remain confidential.
Best,
Mrs. Tancrelle

Coventry Food Service Program: The Coventry Food Service Program - Breakfast and Lunch - is managed by Sodexo. Click on the link, which is the food service page from the Coventry Public Schools web page, in order to get pricing information.
Please note that the lunch menu seems to be only for next week. I have a menu in a different format that I will send in a separate email.
Free and Reduced Lunch: If you have been or think you might be eligible for free/reduced school lunch, you need to fill out the forms yearly before mid October. Once mid October comes and there isn't a new form on file, charges will accrue. You can find the on line application at the food service link above. This is now active, and I've linked it here - Free/Reduced Lunch Application. If you need a paper form, please let me know. The only exception to this process is if you are a direct cert from the state. You would have a letter and would just have to send us a copy.
Hopkins Hill Food Pantry: Hopkins Hill operates a food pantry throughout the school year. As part of this operation, we provide biweekly grocery deliveries from our food pantry supplies to any family that might be having a difficult time. All food pantry inquiries are confidential. You can call me or Nurse Deb if you are interested. We also have access to new coats, shoes, things like that, if needed. Reach out should any emergency arise and we are prepared to assist or help you find assistance.
Notes From Nurse Deb
West Bay Smiles School Based Dental Program, in collaboration with CCAP and Ronald McDonald house, is committed to providing high quality dental care to schools and families who need dental services for their children. Services are of no cost to families and there are no co-pays as part of the community collaborations noted. If you wish to register your child for dental services, please register using the bar code on the linked flyer. West Bay gives us a date when they will be at HH and services are provided at school. Please contact Nurse Deb if you have questions.
