Watch For Strep Symptoms
As of Thursday, April 3, Sprague has reported 20 cases of strep throat. Keep in mind sometimes strep may not have a symptom or it may be subtle or similar to other conditions like a cold or allergies. As always, the best way to limit the spread of germs is by using/teaching proper hand washing techniques, teaching when students should wash their hands, and how to cover for a cough.
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Pain
- Body aches
- Loss of appetite
- Rash
- Fever
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Chills
Solar Eclipse Participation
A solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, between 12:51 and 3:22 p.m. The eclipse will reach its peak at precisely 2:07 p.m. with the moon covering up to 94% of the sun. It's worth noting that the next solar eclipse visible from the United States will occur on August 23, 2044!
Teachers will be facilitating lessons about the eclipse on Monday, April 8, and the district has acquired viewing glasses for each staff member and student to ensure everyone can safely participate in this event.
While this is an exciting event, we understand that some parents may not want their child to participate in the viewing of the eclipse. Please complete and submit the solar eclipse form by Friday, April 5, if you DO NOT want your child to participate in the viewing of the eclipse.
Parent Input Form for Placement
If you wish to share information on your child, this is your opportunity to do so on this Google form. The input you provide will be reviewed and considered as we begin planning for your child's upcoming school year. While specific teacher requests cannot be accommodated, your insight is valued. We look forward to providing your child with continued learning excellence. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with your child's team.
Health Moves Minds Walk
In just a month, Sprague School students will be invited to participate in the “Health Moves Minds Walk.” We encourage students to participate in this fundraiser that benefits health and physical education programs focusing on wellness and mental health. Also, this year a portion of our proceeds will go to our school to help replenish recess equipment, which all students at Sprague can enjoy.
During the in school activity on Thursday, April 18, students, accompanied by teachers, will walk from Sprague to Ryerson Woods and back. The walk is designed to educate our students and staff on the importance of overall wellness and mental health, with further education occurring in physical education classes at school. It is through this program that we can inspire healthy habits and teach kids to thrive physically and emotionally.
We look forward to your child’s participation in our Health Moves Minds School Walk event. Please take a moment to fill out the online permission form, to give consent for your child’s participation in this event and to have a popsicle at the end of the walk.
Students without parental permission will not be allowed to walk, so please be sure to fill out the online permission form.
