Science Experiences!
Fourth graders across the district are traveling up to Metsker park to learn about Earth’s changing features. Students go on a hike “scavenger hunt,” exmine tiny critters scooped out of the pond, build erosion models (pictured), create a topographical map, and learn about the properties of soil.

See Something, Say Something
Did you know the “See Something, Say Something” phrase is not just for physical threats? It can also be important during a mental health crisis. When friends or families see or hear concerning behaviors or comments, it’s important to pay attention and listen and, if necessary, reach out to someone who can help. Here are some things about youth suicide that families should know.

Building Community
MSD middle schools take time each year to perform service projects in the community. This fall, Duniway's projects range from making fleece tie-blankets for Juliette’s House and toys for Homeward Bound animal shelter; writing cards and letters to senior community members; and helping out at a Family Place relief nursery, MacHub, the Community Garden, the MSD Family Resource Center (pictured) and more.
Thank you, Dragons!
Mac High QB Up for “Top Quarterback in Oregon”
Sports Illustrated online is hosting a vote for the best high school quarterback in Oregon. The site noted Kane Sullivan’s 21 touchdowns last season and leading MHS to a Pigeon Bowl win against Forest Grove. Click here to vote. (Note: scroll down to bottom of page for green voting box.)
Track your bus
With the upcoming half-day on Wednesday, Oct. 23, here’s a way to know when your students are nearing their bus stops. Download the FirstView app, which can show you where the bus is and allows you to set a notification for when the bus is nearing a location.
Thank you, PTAs!
Shoutout to the PTAs who are mounting the annual jog-a-thons at the elementary schools. These events promote healthy activity while raising funds for schools at the same time. They also require a lot of support from parents and staff.
This week, Washer’s kindergarten students (pictured) won the competition for raising the most funds of any grade level. School-wide, students beat their fundraising goal and earned enough to purchase a new mascot costume for Winston the Wildcat.
Pancakes at the Firehouse
McMinnville Fire District is hosting their annual pancake breakfast this Sunday, Oct. 13 from 7 a.m. - noon at the fire station at 175 NE 1st Street in Mac. (Lafayette families welcome!)
