As we embark on another exciting school year at Methacton School District, we are thrilled to announce a host of career-related events designed to inspire and prepare our students for their future endeavors. I’m Dr. Shab Maffei, your K-12 Career Counselor, and I look forward to working with you all throughout the year.
We invite students to join us at these events and make the most of the opportunities to explore various career paths. If you have suggestions or information that could enhance our events, please share them with us at smaffei@methacton.org. We are also eager to collaborate with local businesses and community partners and we welcome volunteers who wish to contribute.

Career Advisory
Thank you to the members of the Methacton School District's Advisory Committee for attending our Spring 2024 meeting at Methacton High School. We had a diverse group in attendance, including students, parents and guardians, community members, administrators, teachers, representatives from North Mont Co. Technical Career Center, Montgomery County Community College, and our Methacton Education Foundation. The stakeholders had the opportunity to review our current career curriculum and events.
We are excited to invite you to join us for our Fall 2024 meeting. The event will be held on October 29, 2024, at Methacton High School, starting at 9:00 AM. Your participation and input are highly valued as we continue to enhance our career programs and opportunities.

Why Attend?
Students at Skyview Upper Elementary have a unique opportunity to eat lunch with a featured career presenter each month. This is a fantastic chance for students to learn about various career paths directly from professionals in an engaging and informal setting. To participate, students must sign up for Career Café at the Counseling Suite.
Your involvement in Career Café helps inspire and inform our students about different career paths. Volunteers are also needed for these events. If you're interested in volunteering, please message Dr. Maffei. A valid driver's license is required to volunteer.

Real World Leaders
Exciting Opportunities for Methacton High School Students!
We’re excited to share that Methacton High School students recently connected with real-life CEOs through the Real World Leaders Radio Show, gaining valuable career insights and exploring future paths.
Looking ahead, we’ll be hosting more events this school year, including career coaching sessions and additional radio show opportunities. These events are designed to offer career guidance and networking with industry leaders.

Become a Volunteer Host for Methacton School District’s Pre-Career Activity!
Methacton School District invites professionals to host 12th-grade students for a career exploration program. This opportunity helps students gain real-world experience and make informed career choices.
Program Details:
- Credits: 0.5 per semester
- Total Hours: 40
- Grading: Pass/Fail
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Host Students: Offer a 40-hour experience in your profession.
- Mentorship: Guide students through tasks and projects.
- Supervision: Ensure students meet professional standards.
- Documentation: Verify student logs and progress.
Host Guidelines:
- Availability: Accommodate a student for 40 hours per semester.
- Engagement: Provide practical experiences and feedback.
- Communication: Coordinate with the K-12 Career Counselor.
- Safety: Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines.

Meet Pre- Career Students!
Methacton High School Seniors taking Pre- Career lead by Dr. Maffei are in action at their respective sites.
MHS Pre- Career Students!
Respective Schools are Eagleville Elementary, Arrowhead Elementary, and Arcola Intermediate.
MHS Pre- Career Students!
Students take on various roles to learn about Careers they are interning with during the school day.
Calling all Juniors: Pre-Career Course for Senior year.
Is your child interested in an internship while a MHS student?
Seniors are able to take a course called Pre- Career for either Semester 1 or 2. This will give Seniors an opportunity to intern at a place of their choice during the school day, all while earning school credits. Pre-education interested students may be placed with the assistance of the K-12 career counselor in respective Methacton Elementary Schools!
Pre-career applications are due by April of their Junior year. School counselors can assist students further with these requests.
Junior Achievement
11th Grade Students at Methacton High School:
This year, 11th graders will have the opportunity to participate in the JA Our Region program, designed to deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship and real-world business concepts. The program explores key topics such as regional economics, resources, supply chains, and problem-solving skills.
This experience will provide a practical approach to starting a business and foster entrepreneurial thinking, preparing students for the demands of a dynamic workforce.
Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization committed to empowering young people for future success by helping them become entrepreneurial thinkers, financially savvy, and work-ready.

All substitutes are hired through Substitute Teacher Service (STS), with the potential to transition into full-time teaching roles in the future.
