Teacher Appreciation Week!
Next week we will be celebrating all of our staff members at CAPS! This is a great time of the year to honor all the people who make your child's day a success - teachers, secretaries, food service, paraprofessionals, counselors, social workers, custodians, bus drivers, and administrators. There is nothing better than a handwritten note or email from a family letting us know that we have had a positive impact on your family!
Year-End Testing
Please send your child with a charged Chromebook each day because there is a good chance they will have some sort of test on most days for the coming weeks. A good night's sleep and a good breakfast are always helpful as well! Remember....ALL students can receive a free breakfast here at school.
Upcoming Tests:
Week of May 6:
6th Grade: ELA M-Step (all week)
7th Grade: Math M-Step (all week)
8th Grade: Math NWEA (Monday/Tuesday)
Week of May 13:
6th Grade Math M-Step (all week)
7th Grade ELA NWEA Test (all week)
8th Grade: SS M-Step on Tuesday & Thursday
Safety In The Parking Lot
If you or another person drop off or pick up a student in the parking lot, please be aware of your speed. Many of our students as well as staff members are in the parking lot both before and after school. We have had a few close calls and have asked our Campus Safety to be present at these times. Please slow down to keep all of our students safe!

PBIS Information
A Data Celebration For April!!
We are excited to announce that our student behavior referrals went down significantly from March to April! Our staff has made a systematic effort to have focused conferences with students following a common format as soon as negative behaviors begin in the classroom. This united front has led to fewer formal lunch detentions and fewer behavior referrals overall. That's wonderful news!!
March - 260 total referrals, 149 lunch detentions & 74 staff/student conferences
April - 190 total referrals, 88 lunch detentions & 66 staff/sutdent conferences
That's a large drop in detentions and increase in proactive conferences (28% in March and 35% in April).

If for any reason the weather is not good and the track team needs to use the gym we will cancel volleyball. It is track season and they have first priority for the gym during the season. We would let students know in plenty of time to notify parents.
Women's LAX Skills Training for Current 8th Graders
Looking to up your lacrosse game this summer? Check out the West Michigan LAX summer program! It's perfect for beginners who want to boost their skills and it won't break the bank.
We have had three 8th grader girls who all started their lacrosse journey with this program before moving on to more competitive summer clubs. If you're an 8th grader looking to join the Coopersville team in 9th grade, this is a fantastic way to get started.
The program has had a range of coaches, including Matt Secord for the 5th to 8th-grade age groups.
