End of the Year 2025

Hello Viking Community,
Today marks my last day at Northridge Local Schools—and the beginning of my retirement. After five wonderful years with this district and more than 30 in the field of education, I’m preparing for a new chapter out of state.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but I leave with a full heart and deep gratitude for all we’ve shared. One of the most touching moments of my entire career came recently in the form of a surprise sendoff—complete with pep band music, dancing, heartfelt speeches, and the presence of the entire district. It was incredibly moving, and something I will carry with me forever.
Thank you.
What I will miss most is the people—the students, staff, families, and community members who have made Northridge such a special place. This community is truly one of a kind.
Graduation was another reminder of that spirit. Even though we had to move the ceremony indoors due to an unusually cold and wet spring, the celebration remained beautiful and full of joy. The Class of 2025 was honored in a way that reflected their resilience, accomplishments, and the strong community that has supported them every step of the way.
Thank you for your trust, your support, and the opportunity to serve. It has been the honor to be your superintendent.
As I step away, I do so with confidence knowing that Northridge is in good hands. Mr. Blum brings a deep understanding of our district and a genuine commitment to our students and community. I know he will lead with heart, purpose, and care.
Best,
Dr. Kristine Michael
Superintendent
Welcome (Back!), Mr. Brian Blum – Northridge’s New Superintendent
The Northridge Local Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mr. Brian Blum will become the district’s next superintendent, effective July 1, 2025.
Mr. Blum brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to Northridge — beginning his career here as a student at OSU-Newark and being assigned to gain teaching experience in a special education classroom at the Primary school and later serving as Executive Director of Instructional Services. His strong background in school leadership, dedication to student success, and clear passion for our community made him the standout candidate.
“I have come full circle,” Mr. Blum shared. “Northridge has always been a special place to me, and I’m honored to return and help move the district forward.”
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Blum back to Northridge! We look forward to his leadership and vision in the years ahead.
Statement from the Board of Education on New Superintendent
