• PARENT COUNCIL - Thanks to Mr. Rit, Mr. C, Mrs. Wentz, and Mrs. Louderback for joining us this week at Parent Council! • 8th Grade Program Planning - The program planning process for current 8th grade students kicks off this week with an assembly for all students! Please look for announcements & updates!

• End of 2nd Marking Period - The 2nd marking period ends on Tuesday, January 28th. Please make sure to have all work in and take advantage of the time and access to resources during I & E, Resource, and Open Study on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you need help. Please also consider signing up for peer tutoring and reach out to Mrs. Mandes with any questions.

• GIRLS BASKETBALL - A shout out to Coach Barno & the girls varsity basketball team for its 2nd place finish in the League basketball tournament! It was a great year and only losses came to Holland MS.

• FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTION DAYS (FID) - Flexible Instructional Day (FID) / Home - Now that we have had our 1st snow day of the year all futures snow days will be in this format. Please take a moment to review as a family!

• COLONIAL CORES & EXPECTATIONS – It was a great first week with students as we reviewed basic overview of expectations, policies, and procedures and following up this week as noted above. We have created the Colonial Core page on our website for our community to access the overview of the Colonial Cores and what we teach and the expectations we have for students and all of us in a variety of settings. We will continue to model and revisit these throughout the year!

This week, Senora Fahey and Senora Kincus held an I&E session with students in our Friends program. Students worked together to create Guatemalan worry dolls, small dolls children tell their worries to, put under their pillow when they go to sleep, and wake up with their troubles gone. A great time was had by all!

The second marking period ends on January 28th! We are encouraging students to submit all work on time and to prepare for assessments by studying, checking the Canvas calendar, and managing time wisely. It has been a great year so far and we look forward to the second half of 7th grade with our current group!

Round Up at GIANT to Support Barclay Farmers Market

From January 1 through March 31, the GIANT Company invites customers to join in supporting its "Feeding School Kids" initiative by rounding up at the register. The GIANT Company will directly support customers’ generosity by matching all donations up to $100,000. The Barclay Elementary School Farmers Market is the beneficiary of the funds, which help to support families across CBSD's 23 schools.

A comprehensive directory of local supports for families; a guide for special education services in the district; and information about Title IX are three of several new resources that have been recently added to the district's "Making Practices Public" webpage.
