Week of April 29th
Message from Principal Drew...
Congratulations to our Hunter Safety Team on their 2nd place overall finish over the weekend at their state competition. The Hunter Skills team also finished second in their area at the competition.
Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team on their 4th place finish at their state competition on Saturday. This is the best finish in school history for this event.
Thank you to all of the community sponsors that helped to make the 2024 prom a huge success. Your support allows us to provide a wonderful time for our Juniors, Seniors and their guests each year. We could not do it without you.
A special thank. you goes out to Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Overman for all of their hard work to plan and organize the prom. They have spent several months putting the pieces together to make the 2024 prom the great event that it was for our students.
Student chromebook collection will take place at the end of the school year. In an effort to give you time to prepare for this process it is important that you understand that you are responsible for the return of your chromebook and the charger or you will need to be billed. Next NC Scholarship
Next NC Scholarship Offers Students Money for College that Doesn't Have to be Paid Back
Seniors are finalizing their plans for life after high school. For those planning on college, most NC students from households making $80,000 or less will qualify for the Next NC Scholarship, a financial aid program that combines the Federal Pell grant and state aid into one, easy to understand scholarship.
Eligible students attending a community college will receive at least $3,000 per year, which means qualifying North Carolinians can choose from any of the 58 community colleges across the state and have all of their tuition and fees 100% covered. Those attending a public university in North Carolina will get a minimum of $5,000 per year. That pays for more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees at any of the 16 public universities in the state. Students with the greatest need for financial aid could qualify for even more to help make paying for college more manageable.
Students apply for this scholarship by completing the FAFSA. Encourage students to go to nextncscholarship.org for more information. School leaders can find Next NC materials to share with students here.

Documented proof of this vaccine must be provided by the first day of the 2024-2025 school year. Please contact your health care provider or the local health department to receive this vaccine. Contact Nurse Goetsch for any questions.

Individual Student Reports for End of Course Tests in PowerSchool Parent Portal
Individual Student Reports are available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal for two years. Only the reports from the most recent two school years are available. On July 15, 2024, any Individual Student Reports for the 2021-22 school year will be deleted. Parents or guardians are encouraged to download Individual Student Reports to a personal device for historical purposes. If a copy of an Individual Student Report is needed after it has been removed, please contact the school.
Library Books Due April 30th
Chromebooks
All chromebooks should be fixed before testing next month. This will also help with the collection process after testing since we will be returning these devices in preparation of new chromebooks next year.
Students should report to the media center, during 2nd or 3rd period, if they have any of these issues:
Cracked screen
Missing keys/broken keyboard
Device will not power on
We will not fix cracked corners or missing bezels (cover for hinge).
Students that have personal stickers on their device must remove the stickers or they will be charged a $20.00 fee. They should go ahead and remove them.
Any student that does not turn in their device by the last day of school, may not receive a new one when we return in August.
Students who owe outstanding fees to the technology department, will also not be allowed to take new devices home. This can include lost chargers, personal sticker charges and damaged devices.
If you have any questions, please contact Roberta Heath, Digital Learning Coach at robertaheath@pqschools.org
