Things You Need to Know for Graduation
Prior to Graduation Day
Take your cap and gown out of the bag (Do NOT iron your gown). Steam it or hang it in a closed bathroom with the shower running hot to steam out the wrinkles.
If you are going to wear high-heeled shoes, practice walking in them; you will walk a significant distance at United Supermarkets Arena
Graduation Rehearsal - Thursday, May 22nd - 9:00 a.m.
United Supermarkets Arena. REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY. Students who do not come to rehearsal will not walk at graduation. Park in the NORTH parking lot of the United Supermarkets Arena, enter through the ramp.
Graduation Ceremony - Thursday, May 22nd - 7 p.m.
(Seniors should report to the USA by 5:45 p.m.)
What to wear/not to wear
Boys - White shirt and tie, slacks or nice jeans. Nice shoes or dress boots.
Girls - Dress or dress pants. Dress sandals are appropriate as long as they have a back strap, you will be walking up and down stairs. No flip flops of any kind.
All Seniors - Hair and piercing dress code is strictly enforced for graduation.
Graduation caps should sit on top of your head and not perched on the back of your head
Parking is reserved for students in the NORTH lot. Guests may park in the WEST parking lot.
Tassels begin on the right side and will be moved to the left side signifying your graduation.
No decorations will be allowed on any part of your cap.
Gowns must be zipped.
Only cords/stoles that were given to you by the school will be allowed.
If you get to the USA, or are on your way, and realize that you have forgotten your tassel, tie, etc., don’t go home – We will have a few “Emergency Aid Items.”
Do not bring anything of value - purses, bags, cameras, etc. - to the USA Holding Room. There is not a secure place for items to be kept. Keep them at home, locked in your car, or with a family member. You cannot have them on the floor.
Texas Tech University has a CLEAR BAG POLICY for all events. Please share this with your guests.
Do not dye your hair a non-natural color or get a new piercing before graduation!
Disruptions or violations during graduation will lead to the release of a diploma after a substantial fine.

Lunch Policies
Students must
- Attend their assigned lunch and remain in the cafeteria commons for the full duration of their lunch period.
- Scan their own badge to purchase lunch; the use of another student's badge or lunch number to purchase a lunch is forbidden.
- Sit anywhere in the cafeteria commons or outside at the patio tables if weather permits.
- Play games or listen to music on their cell phones, but students are not allowed to access any social media platform during this time.
- Have a family member drop off a lunch for them in the front office.
- Use the restrooms and water fountains located at the entry to the 400 hallway.
- Have Doordash, Uber Eats, or any other food delivery service bring them food outside of a family member.
