Immigration Resources
At Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), we are deeply aware of the concerns and anxieties within our community, especially in light of national conversations surrounding immigration and deportation. We understand that these issues are far more than policy debatesβthey are personal, and they can create fear and uncertainty for many families.
We want to reassure all families that our schools will remain welcoming and inclusive spaces where every child, regardless of their immigration status, is treated with dignity and respect. Ensuring safe, supportive, and affirming environments for our students is a top priority for us. These efforts are critical to helping all of our students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. At JCPS, every child is valued, and we are committed to their well-being and success.
Below are some links to resources we wanted to share with anyone in our Auburndale community who may be in need of them, or who may know of someone they can pass these along to who would like to have them.

Mental Health Practitioner!
Hi! My name is Maylin Diaz and I am the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) at Auburndale Elementary. I am so happy to be here and be a part of such a wonderful school and community.
As the MHP, my primary responsibility is to promote the social and emotional development of all students. I will be providing individual counseling services, small group counseling services revolving around specific topics, as well as classroom guidance in collaboration with the School Counselor. A brief description of services is listed bellow. I will also be collaborating with teachers, staff and parents to benefit and meet the needs of all Auburndale students.
Individual Counseling: One-on-one counseling support for students dealing with a variety of mental health concerns including but not limited to loss, grief, divorce, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Students may self-refer or be referred by teachers and school staff.
Group Counseling: I provide group counseling for small groups of students experiencing similar concerns. These may include making and keeping friends, improving self-steem and coping skills. The groups generally range from 3 to 6 students and last 6 to 8 sessions.
Classroom guidance lessons: These lessons will be presented to the entire classrooms and will focus on issues such as empathy, kindness, bullying prevention and respect.
**Confidentiality notice**
Please note that all information discussed is confidential between your child and me, unless they are planning on hurting themselves, hurting someone else or someone is hurting them.
Any student can request to meet with me, or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have any concern regarding your child.
Please feel free to call me at (502) 485 8204 or I can be reached by email at maylin.diazhidalgo@jefferson.kyschools.us
