Community Conversations
May 2024
Dear Methacton Community,
As we approach Memorial Day, I wanted to take a moment to thank our students, staff, and families for your hard work and your continued support.
I also ask you to please take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country – the true meaning behind this holiday. As we enjoy our time off, let us also reflect on the importance of their sacrifice and the freedoms we enjoy because of them.
Please relax, recharge and enjoy time with your loved ones.
Wishing you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
Sincerely,
Dr. David Zerbe
Superintendent of Schools

May 2024 Good News
Now let’s take a look at some of the events and achievements that took place across the district in May...
ARROWHEAD
Book Vending Machine
On May 22, 2024, students at Arrowhead Elementary School were excited to help officially introduce the school’s brand new book vending machine. The new vending machine allows all of the school’s students to choose books that interest them. The vending machine is one of many tools in our school’s multi-faceted resources focused on literacy. It also encourages a love of reading and supports the promotion of positive reinforcement. The vending machine and children’s books were made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Arrowhead Home & School Association.
So how does the vending machine work? Students can receive a specially-made token, place it in the coin slot, select a number and out pops a book of their choice! They earn the reward by demonstrating good citizenship, positive behavior, and a strong work ethic.
Thank you to our Arrowhead parent volunteers, members of the Board of School Directors, and Methacton administration for joining us to mark this special occasion.
PSSA Pep Rally
At the end of April, Arrowhead held an awesome school Pep Rally in honor of PSSA testing! The kids had a blast!

Mobile Career Fair
Arrowhead students loved learning about all the different job opportunities at their annual Mobile Career Fair.
EAGLEVILLE
Cheering On PSSA Test Takers
Eagleville third and fourth grade students worked incredibly hard during their English Language Arts PSSAs. Earlier in the month, we cheered these grade levels on! This culminated with a fun game of "Are You Smarter Than a Teacher?". Eagleville's students prevailed in a very competitive game!
First Grade Geometry
WOODLAND
Mobile Career Fair
Woodland second grade students participated in a Mobile Career Fair. Through the career fair, local community members volunteered their time to bring their work vehicle to our elementary schools for a one day visit with our second grade classes. Each operator shared facts about their vehicle and how it is used. The vehicles that participate at Woodland included two fire trucks from Lower Providence, a police vehicle from Lower Providence, a Mascaro trash truck, an Allen Myers truck with safety equipment, and a Hedgehog Food truck. Our students were able to learn from the truck operators, and also were provided the opportunity to interact with each vehicle. There was much excitement as the students “climbed on board”!
May the Fourth Be With You!
Students in Mrs. Morgan's kindergarten class celebrated "Star Wars" Day on Friday, May 4th!
Fourth Grade Concert
On May 7, the combined fourth grades of Woodland and Eagleville Elementary Schools provided a spectacular concert in the Woodland gym. Hundreds of friends and family members were in attendance. The fourth grade band, led by Mrs. Danielle Direnzo, played hits such as the theme from “Bluey” and “We Will Rock You.” There was a moving performance by the Eagleville Orff Ensemble, which included spoken word and music, led by Mrs. Miranda Nugent. The fourth grade orchestra, led by Mx. Steph Shuey, included hits from Peppa Pig and the lively “Bowtown Blues.” And the fourth grade chorus, led by Mrs. Andrea Engler and Mrs. Miranda Nugent, included one song in Spanish (“Soy un Coya Chiquitito”) and one in Japanese (“Natsu No Ya Wa”). Our thanks are extended to expert accompanist Mrs. Michele Sinnott, and Woodland teacher Mr. Bert Hostrom, who played both saxophone and flute. A great time was had by all!
WORCESTER
Fourth Grade Concert
Great job to all of the 4th grade students who performed in the concert this month! It was a great show! Thank you to all of the music and instrument teachers who worked so hard to put this show together! Families, thank you for your support as well!
