BHMS Cold Weather Policy
With the cooler temperatures arriving, we want to make sure that everyone is aware of our cold weather policy. Student drop off is between 8:30-8:40 a.m. (9:30-9:40 on Wednesdays). Our students will be outdoors until the bell rings every day, unless it is extremely cold or there is significant precipitation. We also go outside after lunch. Please make sure your student is dressing appropriately for the season! Students should not arrive on campus prior to 8:30 (9:30 on Wednesdays) as there is no supervision before this time.
Cell Phone Policy - Reminder
Cell phones are not permitted during school hours. Students must keep their phones in their lockers or at home between the school hours of 8:45 AM and 3:45 PM. Parents can communicate with their child any time of the school day through the front office.
If students need to contact parents due to illness, they must always do so through the Health Clinic in the Main Office. Cell phones may be taken if there is a distraction or disruption, at the discretion of staff members. If the phone is taken, it will be returned at the end of the day in Ms. Tice’s office. If it is taken more than once, the phone will only be released to parents or guardians.
Counseling Corner - Mindfulness - Stress Management Action Plan
This week during Academic Lab classes, students participated in a short Counseling Cafe lesson focused on stress management. This was the #1 topic that students told us they wanted to learn about in Counseling Cafe when we surveyed them earlier in the year with our Minute Meeting form. In this lesson, students watched this short video about coping with stress and then completed their own Stress Management Action Plan. Having a stress management action plan is important because it helps you stay calm when problems arise. Knowing how to handle stress can prevent you from feeling overwhelmed when stressful events occur. Simple actions like deep breathing, taking breaks, or talking to someone can make tough situations easier. Planning ahead helps you focus on solutions instead of feeling stuck. Ask your student about their unique Stress Management Action Plan that was sent to their BVSD student email.

Class Fees have been entered into IC for school year 2024-2025
Parents, the classroom fees for the 2024-25 school year have been entered into your students’ Infinite Campus accounts. BVSD has revamped their fee structure to simplify it this year. We encourage you to apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch program (even though breakfast and lunches are free this year) because if you qualify your classroom fees and the IT fee for your student’s chromebook will be waived. You must send the program approval email that you receive to lisa.tice@bvsd.org. Please apply, even if you think you may not qualify for it. You never know!
Attention Families of Students NEW to BVSD This Year
If your child is a NEW student to BVSD (coming from out of district) this year, please see this parent letter from BVSD 1:web regarding the way fees are assigned to out of district students. If you have questions or concerns about these fees, you can contact Lucy Simpson.

BHMS Fundraiser Update and Celebration!
We are thrilled to share that thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have surpassed our October fundraising goal of $4,000. Our current total now stands at an impressive $5,500!
To celebrate this remarkable achievement, we are excited to invite all students to an all-School Social on October 31st during 8th period. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together and have fun!
We are grateful for the support of each and every family. A contribution of just $40 from each family will bring us closer to our ultimate goal of $20,000. This funding will provide new books, supplies for robotics and design tech classes, PBIS rewards for our student store and much more.
Let's join forces and make this happen! Every contribution, no matter the size, counts towards our shared success. We are truly thankful for your continued support and look forward to celebrating our progress together.
Thank you!

Infinite Campus Attendance Glitch
Parents/guardians,
We identified and resolved a glitch in the Infinite Campus system, which mistakenly doubled the counts of absences and tardies in the attendance letters sent to parents. Moving forward, the letters will accurately reflect the counts of absences and tardies as displayed in the Parent Portal. Thank you for your understanding.
