Mustang Update
What a week at Valley Heights! First of all, the Lady Mustangs punched their ticket to state volleyball for the third straight year! We were able to host the very first volleyball sub-state at Valley Heights and the girls took advantage of a strong home crowd to pick up wins against Ell-Saline and Herington! The Mustangs will now enter pool play at Dodge City on Friday with the finals and consolation game played on Saturday. Pool opponents are Sedgwick, Wichita – Central Christian Academy and D. West. We will be hosting a pep assembly for volleyball, football and cross country and send the girls and coaches off to Dodge City! Good luck to our team and coaches!
While the girls were playing in sub-state the cross-country team travelled to Southeast of Saline for their regional meet. Three Mustangs earned the right to participate in the state meet this Saturday at the Wamego Golf Course. Kebeb Zimmerman and Tyler Holmes will represent the Mustangs in the boys’ race and Lindsay Gray will be competing in the girls’ race. Congratulations to these student-athletes and good luck at the 2A State Meet!
Our football team travelled to Marion on Friday night and picked up their second loss of the season to a tough Warrior squad! They are now preparing for playoff action and will host the Oakley Plainsmen! The game will be played on Thursday night, October 31st with a start time of 6:00 pm! We wan to wish the Mustangs and coaches the best of luck as we enter post-season play!
The KAYS organization, along with the Blue Rapids Community Action Team hosted the annual Fall Fest this past Sunday evening. The Blue Rapids Square was full of both parents and children – with some of them in their Halloween attire. There was an assortment of booths, some of them hosted by VHHS organizations, where the children could play games as well as food and treats. The cheer squad performed a routine and then the Halloween costumes were judged. The weather was fantastic and so was the event!
The KAYS organization, and their sponsor Mrs. Caley Gallimore, are now busy planning for the annual Veteran’s Day celebration. We will host this event on Friday, November 8th. We have sent out invitations to those guests we have posted in the past but all of our service members are welcome to attend and be applauded for your service. This event is also open to the public. Our guests can show up at 7:30 am in the Commons for coffee and treats and the program will start at 8:15 am in the gym. Our speaker will be staff member Mr. Tommy Tryon, who served in the Army National Guard. Our choir, under the direction of Ms. Brooklyn Coleman, will also be performing!
Remember – we do not have school on Friday, November 1st, so we can support our Mustangs!
Have a great week!
