News from Nanwalek School October 20, 2024
Notes from the Principal:
Weekly Update:
Dear Nanwalek Families and Friends,
The second quarter has kicked off with excitement! We’re thrilled to welcome Mr. Theodore Carter as our new 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher. He arrived on Thursday and has spent the past few days getting to know the kids, their routines, and introducing some fresh ideas. Some of you may have already met him at the Susan Tanape tournament, where he jumped in to help referee!
A huge thank you to Auggie, the basketball teams, and our dedicated parent volunteers for putting on a fantastic tournament and launching our basketball program’s fundraising efforts. I also want to extend my appreciation to the community for coming out, playing, and showing support!
Middle School Basketball itinerary will be sent home with students soon!
Micheal Cook and Mux had the amazing opportunity to attend the Amp'd on Energy Camp. They had a packed itinerary, including a visit to KPC, attending a college fair, and learning about MAPTS Mining and Petroleum. They even made a stop in Seward. It was exciting to hear all about their adventures, and they’ve come back excited about new career possibilities. I want to thank the KPBSD CTE department for hosting and including our students in such a valuable experience.
Our very first Mind-a-Mazes team built an impressive mouse-trap car for competition. Unfortunately, high winds prevented them from traveling to the event. Georgie, Aurelia, Savior, Robert, and Ziva displayed incredible problem-solving skills, and while we’re all disappointed they couldn’t compete, we're on the lookout for more opportunities for them to shine.
Our girls' volleyball team had a great first trip, making it to the semi-finals in bracket play and finishing 8th overall! What a fantastic start—keep up the great work, ladies!
Lastly, we’re looking for community members interested in sharing their knowledge and skills with our students during Community and Culture Wednesdays. This is our favorite day of the week! If you'd like to get involved, please reach out to Ms. Ann Evans or Ms. Desiree Swenning.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
