Your BiWeekly Update from Lilja Elementary School
September 6, 2024
Welcome back to school! We are thrilled to see the joy on our students' faces as they reunite with friends, meet their new teachers, and embark on another exciting educational journey. The energy in our classrooms is contagious, and it’s heartwarming to witness the enthusiasm and curiosity that our young learners bring each day. We look forward to a wonderful year filled with growth, exploration, and countless memorable moments. Thank you for being a vital part of our school community, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
Best,

Things To Know
IMPORTANT: DISMISSAL
PickUp Patrol is our system used to track dismissal plans and absences. For your child's safety, we MUST go by what PickUp Patrol says.
- If your child has a change to their default dismissal plan, be sure to make that change in PickUp Patrol BEFORE 2pm.
- The application cannot accommodate last minute plan changes, as the dismissal plans are emailed out to staff after the 2pm cutoff time.
- If there is an emergency, please contact Peg or Christie in the main office, otherwise we ask that you adhere to the plan listed in PickUp Patrol.
- Also, as always, please log all absences in PickUp Patrol as well.
Please note, 2:30 is our cut off time for parent pick up early dismissals. At 2:30 we begin our dismissal practices in the classrooms and have a high volume of student and teacher traffic. Given this, students need to be dismissed by parents BY 2:30 or they must complete their regular dismissal.

OPEN HOUSE:
We are so excited to welcome you to our Open House on Thursday, September 19th from 6-7pm. Please note, this event is for immediate family only. Students and their siblings are welcome, however, they MUST be under your supervision for the duration of the event. A few other notes:
- We offer early entrance from 5:30-6:00 for families who have a member that requires a sensory friendly event (low crowds/noise/movement)
- Parking is difficult: we strongly suggest walking or carpooling.
- All entry and exit must be through the Oak Street Doors.
Thank you for your support, we look forward to seeing you then!

STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE EXTRA CLOTHES:
Please pack your student a set of extra clothes to keep in their backpacks. Our building and school nurse does NOT have a change of clothes available for students who may have accidents or simply get extra enthusiastic during a snowy or rainy recess! We appreciate your help with this.

GLOBAL CHILD:
Registrations are open for Global Child! This language program is designed for children, whether they are new to languages or looking to build on existing skills. Through engaging and interactive lessons, Global Child aims to foster a love for languages and cultures, laying a strong foundation for future learning. By the end of the 10-week session, students will have a solid understanding of key vocabulary and phrases in their chosen language. Please see additional information, including registration information, here!
