October Pumpkin Character Challenge

Are you ready for some October pumpkin fun?

1) Select one of your favorite books or one you want to read.

2) Choose one character from the story to focus on.

3) Create this character using a pumpkin. Please be sure the pumpkin is small enough to carry to school. You may decorate it, glue things on it, carve it or paint it! Be creative!

4) Please bring your pumpkins in between October 15th-31st. Email cmaccullough@mtplcsd.org with any questions.

Important Things to Remember

Please write your name and teacher’s name on the bottom of your pumpkin (preferably in Sharpie).

Everyone who participates will get a certificate, but no prizes will be awarded.

Unfortunately, due to the number of pumpkins we receive and due to the fact that some of them start to decompose, we can’t return the pumpkins to their owners.

You may bring in your pumpkin anytime between October 15th and the 31st! They will be displayed in the library for everyone to enjoy!

On October 19th at 10:00 a.m., our PTA will host some Hawthorne fun for our kindergarten families on our playground field. We will have face painting, temporary tattoos, and refreshments. This is a great opportunity to meet other kindergarten families and check out our super playground. We hope that you can join us for some family fun!

We will be hosting parent conferences on October 24th and November 1st. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with your child's teacher and share information. Our faculty will be discussing your child's first two months of school as well as the current focus for instruction. We welcome your feedback and insights as partners in your child's education.

Please note that dismissal will be at 11:15 a.m. on both days. Lunch will not be served. Please have all dismissal instructions entered into School Dismissal Manager by 10:00 a.m.

1. As we get into the season of treats, please do not send your child to school with food containing nuts or sunflower seeds. Please do not send in Halloween candy. Thank you for working together to keep our kids safe.

2. Please have your photo identification when you visit Hawthorne.

3. Please use School Dismissal Manager to report your child's attendance information ( absences, late arrivals, leaving early). Please do not email the teacher or call the office regarding attendance.
