G5LIFE - What's Happening 11/18/2024

Dear G5 Families,

Learning This Past Week

Language Arts: For the next 9 weeks, students will be learning about different animals, climates, water cycles, food webs, and more as they immerse themselves in reading about ecosystems. Please continue to have students read 35 minutes a night and complete their reading log.

Social Studies: Students have started lesson 4 on Early European and Indigenous Explorers.

Math: Students finished up Unit 2 with an assessment and have started Unit 3. They continue to work with fractions.

Science: Students continue to learn about the different ecosystems.

Internet Safety

Stefanie Thomas Hanley an internet safety expert that has worked with law enforcement for the past 15 years regarding the exploitation of children online presented her knowledge with the G5 this past week. She used this experience to educate children about internet safety and has reached over 30,000 in the greater Seattle area. She covered cyberbullying, social networking, online gaming, screen addiction and internet & cell phone safety tips.

Veterans Day Assembly

Thank you to Vivienne and Amaya for presenting at our Annual Veterans Day assembly. Thank you veterans!

Orienteering 2024 Day 1

Last Friday, students where introduced to the sport of Orienteering. They learned about maps and how to use it to find different locations. They also got together with their peers and practiced using a map of Cherry Crest to locate 15 points on campus. They did a great job! They will get to practice their new skills this Monday at Bridle Trails State Park.
