Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been very exciting in school with many of our children going on a school trip or participating in an event in school. The children all came back with huge smiles on their faces discussing activities and workshops they had been part of with great excitement. In addition, it pleases me no end when our parent helpers make the time to tell me how amazing the experiences were and how impeccably behaved the children at Larks Hill are when out and about in the community. I am very proud of the outstanding citizens they are.
Trips
This week, Year 5 and 6 visited The Imperial War Museum, Year 1 and 2 visited The Deep and Year 3 and 4 went to Jorvik and The Dig in York. Everyone had an amazing time!
We Will Rock You
On Thursday, Year 6 had the privilege of walking up to Kings Secondary School watch their stage production of ‘We will Rock You!’ They said that this was a fabulous experience and they really enjoyed the music!
Safer Internet Day
Following Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 7th February, we would like to encourage parents and carers to ensure they are monitoring closely what children are accessing on devices at home. A lot of the advice given to children this week asks them to seek advice from a trusted adult and hope that they feel they can be open and transparent with you about what they are viewing online. If you don't already use a monitoring app we can highly recommend Google's 'Family Link' as a free and easy app that you can use from your mobile phone to monitor usage on your child's devices. If you would like anymore information about how to support safe usage of the internet at home then please get in touch.
EYFS Celebration of Learning Assembly
On Thursday, our youngest children in the school held a celebration assembly for their parents and carers where they were able to show their adults their learning journey in school so far. I am so proud of our youngest children (some of whom are not yet five year’s old) who had the confidence to stand up and talk about their learning with ease. A huge well done to all of them!

Pontefract Food Bank
The Junior Leadership Team in school have shared with school how they would like to support the local Pontefract Food Bank next term.
On Thursday 24th February, the first week after half term, the team are wanting to take supplies to the food bank and work alongside the volunteers to pack bags to support local residents who need it.
With this in mind, if you can spare a few items for the children to take to the Food Bank, please can these be brought in to school on 20th February. I know that the community will be really grateful for any donations you can give and that this will be a great experience for our children to get involved in. Thank you.
Attendance
On a final note, thank you for all your support this term. I cannot believe we are half way through the academic year already! Have a great half term!

BREAKING NEWS
Terrifying Dragon attacks local school
Last week, the school Larks Hill was attacked by an enormous petrifying crocodile like dragon at midnight. The caretaker of the school, Richard saw the event happen. Experts on dragons believe the dragon was hunting for someone and the dragon decided to check the school.
The school fields were scorched by the dragon’s powerful flames and there were claw marks all over the trees.
Richard, the caretaker was only alerted to the situation when the alarm sounded. Instantly he ran as fast as he could to the school and was immediately faced with a dragon on the top of the school. Richard told Larks Hill News “I never expected to be confronted with that, I was half expecting it to be some pesky kids from the estate, I haven’t slept a wink since the incident,” explained Richard. The caretaker clearly was feeling petrified about the near death experience. Richard stated “As soon as I saw the dragon I called the police immediately.”
It is also believed that the green scaly beast ate all the food in the school kitchen and made a colossal hole through the hall and kitchen wall! The head teacher Mrs Adams told us “I was very disappointed when I saw all the food have been devoured by the gigantic beast and the majority of our children rely on our delicious, hot school meals now we have nothing to feed them!”
Luckily, Richards dog called Max barked at the dragon and scared the beast away before the police arrived. Meanwhile there has been no other sightings of the colossal dragon since the incident at Larks Hill. The school has been closed since the attack. A professional dragon slayer said the dragon that attacked the school is a rare crocodile green.
If you see the crocodile green dragon please call 917342.

The vicious dragon is on the loose in local schools!!!
Last week, Larks Hill School was destroyed by a vicious, powerful dragon. It happened in the middle of the night while Richard the caretaker was sleeping happily.
The strong powerful dragon unfortunately did leave some damage but it did not destroy everything. It left claw marks on some of the trees and wrecked our classroom.
Richard the caretaker was only alerted to the school bell. He ran over to the school as soon as possible and saw a red and black dragon in the sky, when it came to the time were Richard had to tell everyone what had happened he said, “I was terrified. I was not expecting that to happen!” I thought it was going to be a little animal but it was a massive full grown dragon. I was in for a real shock that day.”
People believe that the school kitchen fridges were all empty. The headteacher of this school was not very happy although she did not want to leave this school. The children were going to enjoy their warm school meals until this happened. Now they have nothing left to feed the children at school.
Luckily, the caretakers dog started to bark and quickly scared away the dragon. After the incident people started to look at the school cameras to see evidence of the dragon and were it had happened. Then dragons skin was like a crocodiles back. That is how bumpy the dragon really was.
This Larks Hill primary school remained closed for a couple of days just so that the police could have a look around and inside the school also they have hired a real trained dragon worker to have a look as well and he said “everything seems OK, but if you do ever see this dragon again please call – 907654 immediately.”

Terrifying Creature on the Loose!!!
Last week at Larks Hill school was attacked by a green scaly dragon. At exactly midnight it came while the caretaker slept peacefully.
The vicious dragon broke into the school by bashing through the year 4 classroom, fire exit door. The fierce beast had trashed every class in the school after he destroyed the school he stormed outside and breathed fire on the playground and school field. The unstoppable, mythical creature didn’t stop, He covered all the lush trees with claw marks too.
The thing that woke Richard the school caretaker was the school alarm. When he got to school he called the fire department. When the firemen got there, the dragon flew away with its shiny, scaly wings. Richard told Larks Hill News that he felt petrified when he saw the creature. He told us “I never expected to be confronted with that, I was half expecting it to be some pesky kids from the estate. I haven’t slept a wink since the incident.” He exclaimed.
It is believed that all the school fridges have been emptied by the scaly dragon. Mrs Adams was outraged! The school’s Headteacher told us “The terrible beast set the whole kitchen on fire so some of our excellent students can’t have our scrumptious school hot dinners” she quoted.
Luckily, Richard’s dog Tom, scared the destructive dragon away before the firemen got to the school. The CCTV from school camera’s is proof that the dragon is a Green Death, a massive, rare beast that is from areas of Norway, Denmark and Sweden according to the internet. The school remains closed because the dangerous dragon is still on the loose, so a dragon hunter has been hired by the mayor of Pontefract to exterminate the beast.

Petrifying Dragon Smashes School to Smithereens!!!
Last week at Larks Hill Primary School, a dragon completely destroyed all of the classroom. The Caretaker of this school (Richard) was woke up by the school alarm. At this time there was a restaurant across the street and witnesses think he/her could smell it.
Unfortunately, this vile creature has dug deep claw marks, slashed on all of the trees. The field was scorched and crusty and in the classrooms of Y4 the poor tables were on their sides, there was books everywhere and the chairs were tipped over.
Richard the caretaker told the school how terrified he was. “The dragon was green, scaly and two times the size of me!” Cried Richard, “I couldn’t believe it”. “His/her wing span was huge”, he added.
The Headteacher even got involved too. “The kitchen fridges were emptied and a roaring fire ripped through the school hall”. She mumbled.
And guess what the Y4 teacher (Miss Parkhurst) was absolutely furious! “When I arrived in the Y4 classroom the cupboards were ransacked and the furniture was smashed to smithereens.” She gasped. She is now worried because this has affected the children at Larks Hill’s education because she has nowhere to teach!
The caretaker luckily brought his dog with him (Fang) which helped to scare the dragon away. Footage from CCTV cameras show that this dragon came to Larks Hill the night before he was seen by Richard. It is believed that he slept here over night in the Y4 classroom. Richard has tried to do some research on what this type dragon is, he thinks it is a cross between a Crocodile Black and a Crocodile Green. Scientists agree with him because it was definitely a crocodile but it had some black scales and some green scales. The dragon is believed to be so rare because dragon crosses aren’t very common.
This unlucky school is now closed while detectives try to find more clues to find out where this monstrous beast came from. Meanwhile no one else has seen this dragon since that night. If you see this dragon again, please call 09977 706502
