Parent teacher conferences being held tomorrow
Parent-Teacher Conferences taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m and will be live, in-person in the fieldhouse. Parents do not need to sign up in advance and may visit with as many teachers as possible in the time allotted.
Schedules will be available for all families upon arrival;
Translators will be available to help families connect with teachers;
Light refreshments will be available.
Leyden announces spring testing dates and schedules
On April 9, grade 9 students will take the PSAT 8/9. All other students will attend classes on their regular schedules. On April 16, grade 10 students will take the PSAT 10 and grade 11 students will take the SAT tests. A grab and go lunch will be available, as will buses after the testing period. All other students will not have school that day.

Virtual parent series continues
The Science of Why We’re Socially Awkward, and Why That’s Awesome!
On Wednesday, March 13, Dr. Ty Tashiro will present two sessions on social skill building via zoom at 12 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m.

Opportunity for students to participate in art project
The J-Def Peace Project will be offering students an opportunity to create mosaic art that will be displayed around Leyden. All students are welcome! The group meets at East Leyden in Tapestry Room (093) every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. For more information, email Ms. Carrasco-Volk at carrascovolk@leyden212.org.
"Behind-The-Wheel" to be held at West Leyden
Registration for Leyden's driver education behind-the-wheel course opens April 2, and closes on April 30. The cost is $250.
In order to register for behind-the-wheel, students must:
have completed and passed the Driver Education and Safety class or be currently enrolled and passing the Driver Education and Safety class
have a learner’s permit in order to begin the behind-the-wheel instruction
The driver education behind-the-wheel course will run for four sessions at nine days per session. There will be no instruction on June 19, and July 1 to July 5.
Register either through the MySchoolBucks website or mobile app. Questions regarding in-seat driver education classes taken during the school year can be directed to Department Chair Chris Cook ccook@leyden212.org and to Dean Dennis Byrne dbyrne@leyden212.org for the summer courses.

Operation Snowball and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) partner with Leyden teacher’s son to raise funds to fight childhood cancer
Students at East Leyden are rallying around Literacy/Special Education Teacher Jen Black-Foltin and her son Stephen, who is receiving treatment for bone cancer, as they raise funds to fight childhood cancer. Stephen is participating in the St. Baldrick's event hosted by the Franklin Park Fire Department on April 5, and is currently in the fundraising lead having already surpassed his goal of $10,000! Students continue to collect change as part of this inspirational effort during the school day and donations can also be dropped off with Ms. Muldoon.
