When the final bell rang yesterday to end our semester, the Walnut High Community Club passed out popcorn to our students as they exited campus and into the break!

We wanted to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to our parents as we close out the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year. Walnut High School is a special place because of the hard work, dedication, time, and effort our staff and parents put in behind the scenes to make our students successful. We hope you take these next two weeks to unwind, rest, recharge, and find renewal as we head into the second semester.

Each of our GLCs will recognize one student who they believe represents the Walnut Way and make a positive impact at Walnut High School. Please congratulate the following students for being selected in the month of DECEMBER!

Thank you to our parent group, KAPA, who hosted a Holiday Staff Party on Tuesday. The Walnut High Community Club also purchased personalized tumblers for each staff member and held a hot chocolate, coffee, and tea bar for our staff members the next morning.

Walnut High School was chosen as a Corwn Awards top yearbook publication for their 2020-2021 Yearbook. The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison. Student publishing in news, magazine, yearbook or digital (online) formats are all-eligible. During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. A total of 817 publications were eligible for judging.

This year the judges were sensitive to the challenges COVID-19 raised to student publications. The judges read the membership profiles and learned of the obstacles and alternative tasks staffs chose to follow to publish their publications. CSPA is proud of the work of all of its members. They rose to the challenge and flourished for their communities.

This means so much more given that the book was done in an entirely remote year.

Over 200 trombone players gathered from all over Southern California to play some holiday tunes! Walnut High represented well with 21 participants and KEPT the high school participation trophy!

Open House is the ideal time to see all that Walnut High School has to offer: Academics, Athletics, Activities, Arts, Clubs, Student Performances and much more! Meet with current students and faculty and discovers what makes Walnut High School such a special place. As the only foundation dedicated to serving our most vulnerable Asian and Pacific Islander community, the Asian Pacific Fund is pleased to share the scholarship opportunities we have available for the 2022-23 academic year. Our scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 per year and many prioritize Asian students with financial need.

Due to safety concerns, we DO NOT accept student lunches in the office. We understand the importance of student nutrition, but we encourage students to either purchase lunch at school or bring their lunch from home. Food, drinks, or other items are NOT to be passed to students through the fence. This is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Please Note: Parents can now access the Food Services Department from our website under the Parents tab. On that page, parents can set up and deposit funds into their student's lunch account for purchasing lunch on campus.

Our GLCs held a College Application and Financial Aid Information Night over YouTube Live. Below the video contains the Frequently Asked Questions during Financial Aid Night 2021.

This short video provides a variety of College and Career Readiness Resources for this years Seniors.

Students must attend every class, every day, and be on time. In order to receive daily credit, students are to bring all necessary materials to class. Students will not be excused from class to get materials. Homework and class assignments are to be completed on time and to the best of the student’s ability. Only behaviors befitting the learning environment are acceptable. Students are to comply with all reasonable requests of any staff member. Dress code will be enforced.

Please remember that attendance counts, every period, every day. Students will be marked absent if they are not at the beginning of each period to verify their attendance.

All single-period absences will need to be reconciled through the attendance office by the student. If marked absent, students will receive an email from the attendance office notifying them that they have been marked absent. The notification will include the date and period of the absence. The student will need to contact the Attendance Department to make any necessary corrections to their individual period attendance. For full-day absences, a parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by the end of the day.
