Dear Jaguar families,
Our school year is in full swing! Students are engaged in meaningful work in their classrooms, clubs are filled with excited and eager children, and our sports and musical programs are focused on providing amazing opportunities for our students to show their talents and shine. In fact, our first soccer game of the season is happening this evening.
Our students have been following the Webb Way and have been earning free seating at lunch time. This is definitely something our students look forward to each week. I am so proud of them for showing positive behaviors and earning this reward each week.
WBMS has been recognized as a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) Distinguished School for the third year in a row! I am so proud of the work of our staff and students. This is the highest level of distinction achievable at the state level in regards to positive behaviors and supports. Way to go!!
Our 7th graders are looking forward to their Junior Achievement field trips to Finance Park starting next week. They will enjoy experiencing hands-on opportunities which will help prepare them to manage a household budget and learn about personal finance.
I continue to enjoy getting to know the Webb Bridge staff and students. What an amazing school community we have! I would also like to thank the PTA for providing the most delicious lunch for our staff today catered by Chronic Tacos. We have full hearts and bellies going into this weekend!
Warm regards,
Julie Morris

PTA Reflections Contest Now Open for Submissions!
A Chance for your Student to Explore the Arts and Express Themselves!
The National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. The 2024-2025 Georgia PTA Reflections program theme is Accepting Imperfection. The key to the Reflections program is the student interpreting the prompt any way they want to - this is theirs to think about and express however they desire!
Categories and Divisions
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12), Special Artist (All grades welcome).*
Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
*Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.

Wear Yellow on October 10th for Mental Health Day!
October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and WBMS along with our community partner, the LRJ Foundation, is excited to celebrate “Wear Yellow Day”, by LRJ Foundation, a long standing event for over a decade.
Why Yellow?
For over 13 years, yellow has been LRJ's chosen color, symbolizing hope, joy, and mental resilience. Wearing yellow is more than just a statement; it’s a powerful symbol of our commitment to mental strength, supporting each other through life’s challenges, and striving to be better every day. LRJ's school-based mental health and wellness education programs have educated over 70,000 students with great initiatives just like this!
We hope you will join us in wearing yellow on October 10th. If you choose to purchase the new "2024 Mindset Matters" LRJ t-shirt please click here. Pre-sales will close Sept. 20 and please choose deliver to school for free delivery.

Tech Club Update
Message from the Tech Club Sponsors:
Hello all and thank you so much for you and your student’s interest in our WBMS Student Technology Club! Our club is truly a student-centered club right at its very roots, as the club was created by a former alumnus of Webb Bridge. So in keeping with this tradition our club is guided by two student leaders 8th grade Aarav Rana and 7th grader Eashan Kochi this year. Our club will meet in room 815 on the first Thursday of every month during Compass. The first meeting will be held Thursday, October 3rd in room 815 during Compass. We have not set up our OSP as of yet, so the first meeting will just be an introduction to see if your kiddos enjoy the club and want to stay. After the first meeting we will send out the OSP for you to officially sign up! We appreciate all your ongoing support and look forward to an awesome year of Tech Club!

TREX Recycling Challenge
TREX Recycling Challenge!
Last year our WBMS community participated in the Trex Recycling challenge as part of 8th grade student Lillian Walker’s Girl Scout Silver Award. Webb Bridge came in 4th place out of all participating middle schools in the country! In our first year we recycled over 217 pounds of plastic! This year, Lillian’s sister Teresa (8th grade) has taken over this community recycling challenge.
Students and staff are encouraged to bring in single-use plastic items from home to be recycled by the decking manufacturer, Trex (see attached flyer for a list of acceptable items). There are 3 recycling bins placed around the school, where you can place these plastics. Each week volunteers will weigh the collected plastic and transfer it to a local Trex drop-off site. We will compete against schools across the country to see who can collect the most plastic for recycling, and the winning school receives a Trex Bench! We hope this challenge will spread awareness about the harmfulness of single-use plastics on our environment as well as encourage the habit of recycling in our community. We will provide periodic updates on our progress, and we hope to get 100% participation. Let’s get recycling, Jaguars!!
JOIN PTA!
Our school was named a 2022-2023 National PTA School of Excellence!
To earn this designation WBMS had to demonstrate families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and that our PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!
To learn more about this accomplishment or to support our PTA during the Fall Membership Drive, visit wbmspta.org.
Do you know a family in need at WBMS?
Please reach out to our counseling staff so we can find ways to help.
Our Community Cupboard provides emergency necessities for families in our school experiencing hardship.
Please consider making a donation! Our largest need currently is gift cards in any amount to Kroger or Walmart.
You may leave your donations at the Front Office. Please mark them PTA/Community Cupboard. Thank you!
Please help us thank our Community Partners by supporting their place of business!
