New Security Procedures Beginning Jan. 27, 2020
Procedures
Lexington County School District One strives to make safety a top priority. In addition to the other schools in the district, River Bluff will be adding another layer of safety and security. As part of the procedures, we will be implementing a new building access system on Monday, January 27, 2020.
At 8:20 a.m. each morning, all front entrance doors will be locked. Visitors will now be required to “buzz in” to gain access to the building through a closed circuit monitoring system. Visitors will only gain access through the far right door of the main entrance.
Directions for how to use this system are listed below:
1. To the right of the door is an intercom/camera.
2. Press the button on the intercom.
3. Place yourself in front of the camera on the panel.
4. Someone will see you and will respond verbally.
5. They can then release the door for you to enter the building.
6. You will then report to the front office or counseling office for further assistance.
We want to make sure that everyone enters the building quickly upon arrival. You can help us by identifying yourself and providing your student’s name. Once you have been given access, you will enter through the right door. Once you are in the office you will be asked to provide your driver’s license if you are dismissing a student or visiting with a teacher.
We ask for your patience and understanding as we all get acquainted with this new system. Please remember that we have your student’s best interest and their safety at heart as we observe these new procedures.

School Engagement Survey for Students
We want to share with you an important opportunity for your child(ren) to impact and improve their school culture and learning environment. Student engagement is an important predictor of student success. South Carolina is committed to understanding, through the voice of students, how we can best support their engagement and success in learning. Students in grades 3-12, will have the opportunity to share information about their educational experiences and perspectives through the state wide Student Engagement Survey between February 16 – March 6, 2020. RBHS will administer this survey during CREW on Friday, February 21. This survey is not a test. There are no correct or incorrect answers.
Participating in the survey provides your student(s) an opportunity to have a voice in their education. We take student privacy seriously therefore the data collected and analyzed will be at the school level. Individual student results will not be reported. We will not identify your child(ren) and how they responded to the survey.
Summary feedback across all students will be provided to teachers and leaders in order to support professional development and continuous improvement at your school and district. Statewide student survey results will also be used by the state to report school quality as part of the state’s accountability system.
The survey has 20 brief questions. We encourage you to talk with your child(ren) about the survey and let them know the importance of answering the questions honestly. The collective responses of all participating students will help schools learn what they do well and what they can do better to help all students succeed.
An accompanying Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document is provided for your information. If you have additional questions, please contact one of the academic deans.
Please encourage your child to engage with us in this important effort. We look forward to your child(ren) participating in the 2020 Student Engagement Survey.

Signing Out Procedures
A reminder to parents regarding signing students out during the school day. Someone from the student's sign out sheet must come in and show ID to dismiss a child. We do not accept phone calls or emails for dismissal. You can come in on Monday to sign your child out during the week but only up until Friday of the same week. Also, if you are dismissing your child during ILT, then it is helpful to have made arrangements with the student ahead of time. We appreciate your help to assist in making this process efficient.
