J. C. Young Middle School
March 2025 Edition

Greetings Wolfpack Families and Friends!!!
Welcome to the April edition of our monthly school newsletter. I hope this message finds each of you well. As we step into April, we’re excited to share the latest updates and events happening at Jean Childs Young Middle School. Our students continue to shine bright with their achievements, creativity, and triumphs under the guidance of our amazing teachers and staff members. We continue to be so proud of each and every one of them.
During the month of March, there were some notable highlights that we are incredibly proud of. Here are a couple:
· Young Georgia Authors Contest – APS District-level winner
· Regional Social Studies Fair – two 3rd place winners and a 1st place winner that will now proceed to the Georgia State Social Studies Fair in May.
Our students and staff continue to showcase outstanding dedication and achievement!!!! I commend their hard work and perseverance, as well as the unwavering support provided by our dedicated teachers and staff to make these achievements possible.
Beyond the classroom, our students are continuing to excel in various extracurricular activities. Our boys and girls track teams competed in the championship track meet. Our boys and girls soccer teams advanced 1 round into the playoff after winning their first playoff round match. Currently, our baseball and flag football teams are competing in an attempt to make it to the championship round. They are truly representing us with dignity and grace!! Let’s continue to show them our support as they represent our school community.
As always, we strongly encourage open communication between parents and teachers. Your involvement and feedback are invaluable in ensuring the success of our school and fostering the well-being of our students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we will continue to make this school year a memorable and successful one as we “Rebuild the Legacy” of Jean Childs Young Middle School, one day at a time.
With Gratitude,
Ronald Garlington - Principal

In The Den Live!
Georgia Aquarium
Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade engineering students recently had an unforgettable experience at the Georgia Aquarium! Hosted by Mr. Jerry Harris, the Vice President of Information Technology and Cybersecurity, the students embarked on a fascinating backstage tour. They had the unique opportunity to learn about the intricate operations behind the scenes and the vital role of technology in maintaining the aquarium's exhibits.
The adventure didn't stop there! Students were thrilled to see majestic marine creatures up close, including giant stingrays, swordfish, and the awe-inspiring whale sharks. This educational and fun-filled trip not only broadened their knowledge about marine life but also sparked curiosity and excitement about the world of cybersecurity and technology.
A big thank you to Mr. Harris and the Georgia Aquarium for making this day so special! 🐠🦈🌊
