MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. KIM SWEIGART, FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCE TEACHER AT SHS
Mrs. Kim Sweigart has been a Family & Consumer Science teacher at Strongsville High School for five years. Mrs. Sweigart’s original major at Ohio State was Molecular Genetics and Pre-Med. She eventually changed her major to Family Consumer Science, with the goal of working with pregnant and parenting teens and other at-risk youth. Along with her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University, Mrs. Sweigart earned two masters degrees - in Education from OSU and in Special Education with Autism Certification from Bowling Green State University.
“The students have very different personalities, attributes and interests. I love interacting with them in the classroom. I think I learn as much about them as they learn from me. I really appreciate the innovation and current initiatives in education that are available within Strongsville Schools. Having worked in three other districts before coming here, I do not think that everyone recognizes how lucky we are to have our district resources. From the MakerSpace equipment, middle school and high school course offerings, and district leadership who not only provide relevant professional development opportunities, but also model these best practices through their daily work, Strongsville is truly a remarkable school system and I am proud to teach here,” said Mrs. Sweigart.
Thank you Mrs. Sweigart for your commitment to innovation and helping our high school students prepare for ‘life after SHS’! #WeAreStrongsville
