For the week of February 5, 2024
Issue #21
Reminder: No School on Monday, Feburary 5 - Staff Workshop
Note from the Principal
Read, Read, Read!
Dear Basswood Families,
There is a lot happening in February at Basswood! This week I want to highlight our focus on reading. February is "I Love to Read Month." We have a lot of opportunities to celebrate our love for reading in the coming weeks. The "Read A Thon" kicked off this week and we hope that every student does A LOT of reading! We hope to reach our school-wide goal of 500, 000 minutes of reading. We can do it if everyone reads 20 to 30 minutes each day.
Later this month we will have "Trail Tales" too. Beginning February 20th, the Basswood community can enjoy a walk through the Basswood Nature Area while enjoying the book that is displayed along the trail. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and log some extra reading time.
Finally, we host the Scholastic Book Fair this week as well. A nice variety of books will be available for purchase beginning February 8th.
I look forward to seeing you at conferences in the next few weeks!
Steven Schwartz
Basswood Principal
