MCSD Celebrates Read Across America Week
Marion County School District kicked off March with a vibrant celebration of Read Across America week! Guest readers ignited a passion for literacy as schools engaged in various activities to honor Dr. Seuss's Birthday and promote the joy of reading.
Teach Them to Reach Them Initiative Donates Books to AEL Students
Teach Them To Reach Them generously provided each student at the Academy of Early Learning with a book to promote literacy. This charitable organization, established in honor of the late teacher Susie Hill, is dedicated to advancing education for a brighter future. Its objectives encompass providing scholarships for aspiring teachers in Marion County and promoting early literacy through book donations.
2024-2025 Teachers of the Year
Marion County School District 2024-2025 Teachers of the Year have been selected and announced! The outstanding work, commitment, and dedication of the teachers listed below is commendable. We look forward to moving through the district's Teacher of the Year process and announcing our District Teacher of the Year later in May.
DJ Rowell Wins MCSDproud Award
The Marion County School District acknowledged DJ Rowell during the March 19th, 2024, Board Meeting as the recipient of the MCSDproud award for the month of March. DJ, a 2011 graduate of Marion High School, exemplifies the values of perseverance, compassion, and community spirit. He is the visionary behind The Rockeem Experience, a no-cost basketball camp for children conducted in Marion for the past seven years. In addition, he spearheads a Holiday Backpack Drive that extends from the East to the West Coast, aiming to bring joy to children who will be hospitalized during Christmas.

Dr. Bethea enjoyed hosting our International Teacher Advisory Meeting this month at the Awaken Coffee Shop in Mullins. This awesome group of teachers enjoyed desserts, coffee, conversation, and opportunities to share their thoughts and ideas!
Xavier Legette Donates Football Gear
A big shoutout to Xavier Legette for his generosity and community spirit! As a 2019 Mullins High School alum, he is giving back in a big way by donating football equipment. It's inspiring to see someone from our own community making such a positive impact. We can't wait to see all the incredible things the future holds for Xavier!
Taco Talk with Mullins High Students
Dr. Bethea met with the student government representatives from Mullins High School. They ate tacos and discussed academics, accountability, athletics, and the school atmosphere. It's always nice to see our future leaders' passion and determination.
