On February 3, 2025, the Fredericksburg City School Board held Regular School Board Meeting at 210 Ferdinand Street, Fredericksburg, VA. Closed Session began to 6:30 PM. Open Session began at 7:30 PM.
Approval of the Agenda
The agenda was amended the move the Out-of-District Tuition Rates for the 2025-26 School Year be moved to Action Items and the Independent Audit and Activity Funds for the year end, June 30, 2024, presentation be postponed until next month.

Hearing of the Citizens
Maura Wilson Schneider, 107 Caroline Street: Ms. Schneider expressed appreciation for the school's considerations of the needs and safety of the students and staff regarding the President's Executive Order on immigration and deportation.
Alex Capshaw Taylor, 117 Springwood Drive: Requested that City Schools do the following:
- Continue to work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students
- Conduct a school climate survey asking students, staff and families their opinions on the school environment
- Implement teacher and administrative training on how to help families when dealing with federal immigration agent inquiries and raids
- Pass a resolution specifically forbidding employees from cooperation with federal employees over immigration inquiries that lack a judicial warrant or subpoena
- Create a plan for caring for children whose parents, caregivers or guardians have been detained during the school day including emergency mental health support
- Be proactive in helping families keep their emergency contact information updated
Kim Cummings, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority: Ms. Cummings gave a history of the sorority and Black History Month. She highlighted the sorority’s priorities of addressing educational disparities and inequities, health equity, reimagining public safety, voter suppression, supporting gender equality, and combating racial profiling.
Kelly Booker, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority: Ms. Booker gave a history of Black American workers in the United States.
Jessica Green: Ms. Green spoke about recent immigration concerns in the city.
Henry Tankersley, 804 Charlotte Street: Notified the board that several of his friends have told him they are not coming to school because they are scared of immigration enforcement.
