A Note From the Principal 6/7/2024
Dear Falcon Families,
As we reach the end of the school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we've shared together. It's hard to believe that my first year as your principal has already come to a close.
Reflecting on this year, I am overwhelmed by the sheer amount of learning, growth, and accomplishments that have taken place within these walls. From the excitement of the first day to the triumphs of our various academic endeavors, each moment has been a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire school community.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for welcoming me with open arms into this wonderful community. Your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm have made this transition incredibly rewarding. It's been a privilege to work alongside such passionate educators, caring parents, and, most importantly, our amazing students.
To our graduating 6th graders, as you embark on the next chapter of your educational journey, know that you carry with you the knowledge, skills, and memories that will serve as a solid foundation for your future. You have shown tremendous growth and resilience, and I have no doubt that you will continue to shine brightly wherever your path may lead you.
I want to wish each and every one of you a safe and joyful summer filled with relaxation, exploration, and cherished moments with family and friends. Take this time to recharge, rejuvenate, and create lasting memories that will fuel your passion for learning as we eagerly anticipate the adventures that await us in the year ahead.
Thank you once again for an unforgettable year. I am truly honored to be a part of this incredible community, and I look forward to all the amazing things we will achieve together in the years to come.
With warmest regards,
Pauline Roberts

If students want to purchase an a la carte or purchase an extra lunch, parents can set up an account and add money to it through the family Portal link below.
Attendance
Too Sick to Attend School?
When is your child too sick to attend school? The following guidelines, along with the advice of your family doctor, will help you decide when your child should stay home:
• Cold and/or cough – a child with deep mucus that causes a cough and heavy nose drainage cannot function at school.
• Fever – fever is a warning that something is wrong. A child should remain at home for 24 hours after the fever is gone without the use of medication.
• Rash – a rash, spots or blotches on the skin can be the first sign of many illnesses. Rashes require a physician’s release stating they are not contagious.
• Stomachache/Upset – a child who is vomiting or has diarrhea should be kept at home and may return 24 hours after the symptoms are gone.
• Head Lice – a child with head lice must remain at home until treatment is complete and school officials confirm he or she is free of lice. Check your child’s head before school begins in the fall and routinely during the school year or if he or she complains of an itchy scalp. Look around your child’s ears and back of the neck for nits, which are tiny, 8 white, oval-shaped lice eggs that are attached to the hair near the scalp. Nits may look like dandruff or scalp flakes, but nits do not move and are difficult to dislodge. Notify the school office immediately if your child has head lice. Begin treatment immediately by contacting your doctor or purchasing over the counter medication from the drug store. To prevent spreading head lice, wash all infested garments, hair accessories, bedding and other surfaces with hot water and disinfectant. You must sign your child in at the office when he or she is returning to school after treatment for head lice.
Please call the 24 hour attendance line to report an absence at 586 797 4999 .
Entering Flickinger
We are asking for your assistance to ensure that our security procedures during the school day are effective. As many of you know, our school has a security camera, intercom, and buzzer at the front main entrance for use during the school day. To help us assist you when you would like to enter the school:
1. Please press the buzzer to speak with someone in the office
2. You will be asked to state your name and reason for visiting
3. You will be asked to show your photo ID into the security camera above the outside door
4. Office staff will then be able to buzz you inside
5. All visitors must immediately register in the office
In addition, we are asking you to not let any visitors in the door as you enter (and they come up behind you) or as you exit the building.
The teachers and staff are committed to student safety and security and we would like to thank you for your assistance in helping keep the students of Flickinger safe!
Attendance Letters and Truancy Referral
- Please note that all students with 10 or more absences or tardies will receive a letter from my office.
- The letters are mailed, one time per card marking.
- 10 or more unexcused absences per semester result in a truancy referral.
EBT Summer Program
This summer, Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT) will be available to families with eligible school-age children to buy groceries, similar to the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). To be eligible, families must complete an Electronic Benefits Form (EBF) online or currently be approved for these benefits by Count Day, February 14, 2024! Check out the flyer below.
