Important August Dates and Information
August 9 4:00 - 6:00 PM Panther Clawset Open: The Panther Clawset offers gently used clothing free to Norton families. Enter the NES clawset through the main office doors.
August 12 9:00 - 3:00 NES Preview Day: NES will post class assignments on the glass doors located on the Cleveland-Massillon Road side of the building as well as in the cafeteria. Families are welcome to take a tour of the building (classrooms closed), drop off medication to the office (nurse not available), and speak to the principals or secretaries. Fourth graders can also pick up Chromebooks from the cafeteria (must have Acceptable Use Policy completed in Final Forms) on August 12. Families are expected to pay a $30 charge for Chromebook insurance annually. - Note: the $30 charge is not waived or reduced due to Free and Reduced Lunch status.
August 15 4:00-6:00 NES Open House: Families are welcome to attend Open House to check out the classrooms and meet the teachers. Our nurses, counselors and office staff will also be available.
August 20 First day of school for all students
August 27 Fall picture day (retake day will be October 1, 2024)

Free and Reduced Fees
Families are expected to pay school fees annually for consumable supplies such as math workbooks. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunches pay either half of the school fee (reduced) or no school fees (free). Parents have to check a box on the form for the office to be notified of Free and Reduced Status to receive a reduced school fee. School fees can be paid online or in the NES main office.

Welcome First Graders and New Students
We would like to welcome the families of incoming first graders as well as students new to the district to Norton Elementary School. Please view information about our school at the link below. There are opportunities prior to the beginning of the year to tour the building. Please contact the office with any questions. See you soon!
Student Handbook
New this year, families can view the NES Student Handbook in Final Forms. Parents of students in grades 1-3 are expected to sign off that they have reviewed the handbook and both fourth grade students and parents of fourth graders are expected to sign off that they have reviewed the handbook.
Kalahari Discount
The Norton Primary and Elementary P.A.C is working with Kalahari to reserve rooms for NES/NPS families at a discounted rate on Friday, October 11. P.A.C. receives a portion of each reservation. Remember, school is closed October 11-15 this year due to NEOEA Day and teacher professional development!

Help Wanted - Substitute Aides and Substitute Teachers
We are looking for positive people looking to join a strong team of educators to support students. We are currently looking to hire substitute paraprofessionals (aides) to monitor lunch and recess and work with individual students. In addition, Norton City Schools is looking for qualified substitute teachers. Substitute teachers need to have a high school diploma.
