The Tonasket setting is rural with magnificent topography of mountains and valleys. The Okanogan River, part of the Columbia River system, flows through the town of Tonasket. There are many lakes in the area, some large and others quite small. The climate is best described as semi-arid with four definite seasons.

The Tonasket School District is currently looking to fill a Choice High School Paraeducator/Secretary position starting in the 2024/25 school year.

- Highly Qualified Requirements for Paraeducator Required (High School diploma (or GED) – AND - also meet HQ requirements of an AA degree –OR- 72 quarter credits or 48 semester college credits –OR- passed the ParaPro Assessment)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Choice High School Paraeducator/Secretary
DEPARTMENT: Tonasket Choice High School Big Picture Learning Program
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal
WORK DAYS: 5 Days, 7.5 Hours Per Day
Paraeducator: Monday – Friday (182 days), 5.5 hours per day
Secretary: Monday – Friday (202 days), 2 hours per day
Position Summary: Provide secretarial and organizational support to the Tonasket Choice High School Big Picture Learning Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help develop individual Student Learning Plans for students assigned to advisory group.
Support students during individual work time.
Support lead teacher with math, science, and art workshop preparation.
Supervise student cooking projects.
Run Restorative Justice circles daily, as well as Group Author Circles and Accountability Circles, when conflict arises.
Participate in Restorative Conferences.
Support students’ preparation for quarterly exhibitions.
Sit on all advisory group exhibition panels.
Maintain list of local people and businesses willing to accept interns.
Support connections between students and possible internships/mentors.
Regularly communicate with mentors regarding student progress at internship.
Contact individuals in the community to sit on exhibition panels.
Answer the phone, make phone calls, and greet the public.
Attendance/Student Records: Record daily attendance on the computer in Skyward, print the daily report, and update attendance (e.g., unexcused absences and tardies).
Follow Procedure 2255 for entries/withdrawals/transfers of students in Choice High School programs.
Place all material orders for the Choice High School.
Order curriculum and research availability of updated versions.
Process incoming mail.
Send out robo calls as needed.
Assist in the management of building budgets and managing key financial processes such as invoicing and processing of purchase orders, authorizations, and request forms.
Maintain and organize office and classroom materials and supplies, including books and art supplies.
Complete and submit the monthly enrollment report to the district office.
Communicate with school nurse as needed.
Register staff for workshops.
Maintain files.
Preparation and distribution of notices, messages, parent letters, monthly assessments, etc.
Assist in planning the testing calendar.
Assist in updating district-wide student and family handbook
Assisting in field trip preparation – requesting transportation, chaperones, permission slips, etc.
Assist in keeping buildings neat and tidy.
Create new forms as needed.
Complete District Reports: Enrollment, P223, 302, student/staff accident reports, monthly reports.
Complete Attendance/Student Records: record daily attendance on computer, print daily report, and update attendance (i.e., unexcused, tardies). Becca, monthly reports/letters/court possibility.
Maintain Student Records: Custodian of student records. Enrolling and withdrawing students. Maintain student records, including new students and withdrawals, maintain permanent cumulative records files, send records for withdrawn students, etc.
Scheduling: Maintain master schedule of teachers and school calendar on Skyward and physical wall calendars
Maintain Evaluations/Observations: Copy teacher evaluations and observations (to be sent to DO) and originals in staff file.
Attend open house: available to greet the public and help in directing them.
Help prepare district handbook annually.
Process lunch forms.
Other duties as assigned as needed.

First Aid/CPR/AED card.

Previous experience working with at-risk students
Interpersonal skills, being able to relate to students and adults, flexibility.
History of reliability, dependability, and punctuality.

Computer skills and proficient in google programs.
Previous experience in Skyward data management.
Positive attitude.
Be professional in action and appearance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Must meet federal guidelines for Highly Qualified by having an AA degree or 72 quarter hours or 48-semester college credits or documentation of successfully passing the state assessment.
Office-related experience or Vocational School experience in the secretarial field is preferred.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
