Pierce Park's Emergency Response Procedures
We have been busy celebrating conservation this month. Let's give a huge shout out to Mrs. Lawrence and Ms. Nikki who are our Pierce Park "green leads". They have organized many events which the City of Boise recognized by awarding Pierce Park the Curb It Award Champion level for our commitment to curbing waste.
"Walking School Bus"- We had over 75 parents, relatives, siblings, students and staff members walking with us on Earth day.
Various classes "plogged" which is a combination of jogging and litter picking. We had over 100 students participate which won us the prize of "Largest Group Size".
Ask your students about recycling plastic milk bottles in the cafeteria and orange recycle bins in the classroom.
Family fun Friday will take place on Friday.
Also, as we get closer to the end of the school year, please call the school (208-854-5880) or email Kyra Black (kyra.black@boiseschools.org) if your student will NOT be attending Pierce Park next year (ONLY Kinder-5th grade students). Thank you!

Pierce Park Elementary Mindfulness Toolbox 2024-2025
Over the last few months, we’ve been adding more and more strategies to our Pierce Park Mindfulness Toolbox! Every Friday morning, students and staff walk through a short guided meditation to help calm their bodies and prepare them to navigate the ups and downs of the school day. I’m excited to share with you a link to all the scripts we’ve introduced in the 2024-2025 school year–feel free to use them during this busy last month of the year and throughout the summer!
Spring into good health!
Spring is finally here!
As we welcome the warmer weather, blooming flowers, and more outdoor activities, it's essential to keep our children healthy and safe. Here are some important health tips from the school nurse's office:
Seasonal Allergies
Spring brings beautiful flowers but also an increase in pollen, which can trigger seasonal allergies. If your child suffers from allergies, please make sure they take their prescribed medication before coming to school. Common symptoms include sneezing, itchy eyes, and congestion. If needed, consult with your pediatrician for the best treatment plan. If your child will need medicine while at school, please contact the office for a medication authorization form before sending the medicine to school with your child.
Springtime Safety Tips
With children spending more time outdoors, here are a few reminders to keep them safe:
- Apply sunscreen before school to protect against sunburn.
- You may send a hat with your child for them to wear outdoors.
- Encourage children to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Remind them to wear helmets while biking or scootering.
- Check for ticks after playing in grassy or wooded areas.
Cold & Flu Prevention
Although winter is behind us, cold and flu viruses can still linger. Continue to encourage good hygiene habits, including:
- Frequent handwashing with soap and water.
- Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
- Keeping sick children at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication.
Healthy Eating for Spring
Fresh fruits and vegetables are starting to come into season! Try incorporating berries, leafy greens, and other nutritious foods into your child's diet to boost their immune system and energy levels.
End-of-Year Health Reminders
- If your child has medication at school, please make arrangements to pick it up before the last day.
- Ensure your child’s immunizations are up to date for the upcoming school year.
- Schedule any required physicals or health screenings for summer. Kids entering Junior High in the fall should have a physical before they participate in P.E.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy spring!
-Nurse Jenn & Ms. Jojo
Not Feeling Well?
Follow Illness Procedure
Staying home when a person has symptoms of illness protects the school community by preventing the spread of illness and allows the person experiencing symptoms of illness the opportunity to rest and recover.
