What are we learning?
Reading
Module 6
Foundational Skills:
- Blending Phonemes: /r/+/a/+/n/ = ran
- Isolating Phonemes: The first sound in jet is /j/.
- Spelling: Final blends, Long Vowels
- Describing how two characters or events are related in a text
Writing
Opinion Writing:
Students are working towards writing 5 sentences. We are working on writing an introduction and concluding statement, and 3 details. Students are also working on using capitals, punctuations, and finger spacing. Opinion writing has students writing their opinion and supporting reasons.
Math
Lesson 14: True and False Equations
Students will practice showing whether equations are true or not.
e.g. 7+5=4+8 (true), 3+5=10 (false), 2+6=11-3 (true)
Unit 3 Assessment will follow Lesson 14.
Lesson 15: Tens and Ones
Students will practice using place value to show a number.
e.g. 36 is 3 tens and 6 ones
Lesson 16: Numbers to 120
Students will practice finding 10 more and 10 less in numbers up to 120.
Lesson 17: Compare Numbers
Students will practice comparing numbers using the symbols Greater Than (>), Less Than (<), and Equal To (=).
Unit 4 Assessment will follow Lesson 17.
Science
Unit 2: Habitats
- What habitats are right for which animals?
- What adaptations does an animal have to help it survive?
Social Studies
Celebrating America
Students will be learning about American holidays, symbols, and leaders as well as their importance to our country.

Reading Reminder!
Students should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. They can read to you, a sibling, a stuffed animal, a pet - anything! You can read to them as well. Reading out loud is the number one way students can become better, more confident readers.
