FASFA
FAFSA season is upon us! Your senior is in the process of creating their FSA accounts and we want you to be prepared too. Why is FAFSA Important? The FAFSA is vital because it is the primary tool used to determine eligibility for federal financial aid. Without submitting the FAFSA, students miss out on the opportunity to access various forms of financial support that can make higher education more affordable. Additionally, many states and institutions rely on FAFSA data to distribute their own financial aid resources, making it even more crucial for students to complete the form accurately and on time.
Step 1: Visit the FAFSA Website
Go to the official FAFSA website at www.studentaid.gov. This is the only legitimate site for completing the FAFSA application, so be cautious of any other websites that may claim to offer similar services.
Step 2: Create an FSA ID
The Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID is a unique username and password combination that allows you to access the FAFSA website and sign your child's application electronically. Here's how to create your FSA ID:
- On the FAFSA homepage, click on "Create Account" or "FSA ID."
- Enter your email address and create a memorable username and password. Ensure the email is unique to you and different from your child's.
- Provide your personal information, including your SSN, date of birth, and name. Double-check for accuracy to avoid delays.
- Select and answer challenge questions to secure your account.
- Review and accept the terms and conditions, then submit your information.
- Check your email for a confirmation link and activate your FSA ID.
Your FSA ID is now created, and you can use it to log in to the FAFSA website.
