Veterans' Day
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all who served our country in any branch of the armed forces.
Staff and students, on Friday, November 8, show your appreciation by wearing red, white, and blue.
Parent-teacher conferences
Parent-teacher conferences will be held November 12-15. If you have not heard from your teacher about scheduling a conference, please contact your child's teacher. Remember, school will be released at noon on November 12-15 to prepare for, and hold conferences. We look forward to seeing you!
Winter Weather
Our weather is getting colder! Our kids go outside for recess in all weather (unless unsafe temperatures, smoke, heavy rain, or lightning). Whether the weather is raining, sunny, snowing, or blowing, our kids go out. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and has a jacket, hat, and gloves. Boots are best in the snow!
Thank you!
School Breakfast
Breakfast
10:10 on Mondays
9:10 Tuesday-Friday
If you are bringing your child for breakfast, please be sure they have enough time to eat before class begins at 10:30 on Monday and 9:30 on Tuesday-Friday. Instruction begins almost immediately when the bell rings, so when students arrive late, it is highly disruptive to the rest of the class.
Thank you!
School Time
The bell to bring students off the playground rings at 10:25 on Mondays and 9:25 on Tuesdays-Fridays. Instruction begins at 10:30 and 9:30, respectively. Please make sure your students are on time, daily. Because instruction begins at the bell, it is very distracting to the class when students come in late. Please make sure your child is at school and ready to learn at the appropriate time.
Also, students should not be on campus prior to 10:10 on Mondays and 9:10 on Tuesday-Friday. We do not have supervision before those times, nor do we let kids into the building. Please do not drop students off until you see adults on the playground and the parent pick up gate is open. Thank you.

Lakeview Pledge
Lakeview students and staff are serious about our school being a safe, comfortable place to learn. In November, students and staff will sign a pledge to stand up to those who are unkind or have bullying behavior. When we pledge to do something we are working hard at following those expectations. We will talk more about this during our Bullying Prevention Lessons with Ms. Ebel. We also talk about starting with ourselves and our siblings and treating others the way we want to be treated. You can encourage getting along in your own home by following the same expectations. Everyone makes mistakes and learning from them is what’s important.
Here is what the acronym ROAR ON stands for:
Recognize when someone is being bullied or treated unkindly
Organize my thoughts and others to refuse bullying or unkind behavior
Always treat others the way I want to be treated
Report-inform adults when needed
Own MY own behavior so I can make a difference
Never use my computer or cell phone to hurt others
Attendance Information
Our goal for attendance this year is 95%. That is 95% of students present each day, and each student to be here 95% of the year. Currently, 90% of our students have been here 95% of the time. It is still early in the year, so we can certainly attain our goal.
We know kids get sick and emergencies happen. Below is a chart that will help you decide if your child is too sick to attend school or if they need to stay home.
We know students learn better and achieve at higher levels when they are at school, and on time, daily, starting in kindergarten.
If your child needs to be gone, please make sure you call the office as early as possible, preferably before 9:30 AM. If you know in advance that your child will be gone, we ask that you complete a pre-arranged absence form.
Our attendance line is 509-766-2653 and press 5.
Thank you!

Lakeview PTA
Join PTA!
We have a fantastic PTA here at Lakeview! They have done incredible things for our students, and we feel very fortunate to be able to work with such a great team.
The PTA consists of three elected board members. Rhenn Forrester is president, Bethany Jenks is secretary and has consistently volunteered to make popcorn on Popcorn Fridays for a few years, and Emily Eidsen is treasurer. We are so very thankful to all of them for giving of their time!
We are always hoping more parents will join the PTA to be a voice for our students, and to help plan fun events and capital projects to benefit the students. Meetings start at 6:00 for information and decision-making. It all happens in our gym. Come join us!
Please save these meeting dates:
- November 13
- January 15
- March 12
- May 14
PTA Activities for this year:
- November 12-15 Scholastic Book Fair
- February 14 Goodies with Grownups
- March Literacy Week and Family Readalong

We are excited to welcome parent volunteers into the building! In order to volunteer, you must have a willingness to give of your time and talents for our kids, pass a WSP background check-available in the office.
Ways that you can volunteer:
- Work in classrooms reading to kids, listening to them read, or whatever the teacher needs (with teacher approval and 24-hour notice, please)
- Help prepare materials for the teacher
- Extra eyes on the playground
- Extra eyes at Parent Pick-up-especially afternoon
- PTA activities

Visitors to campus
Parents who wish to volunteer in their child's classroom or be on the playground must have passed a Washington State Patrol background check. The forms are available in the office, and take a week or so to process.
All visitors to campus, please enter through the front doors and sign in at the office. Thank you.
