Pirates Post
Week of March 4th
Message from Principal Drew...
What an exciting week we just had at PCHS! Our women's soccer team and softball team opened their new facilities with home games on Wednesday. Our band held an amazing performance on Thursday. The women's basketball team had two wins in the playoffs, baseball had two wins, softball had two wins, women's soccer had a win at Camden and track is preparing for the start of their season on our new track. Most importantly, our students that completed the WorkKeys exam have an 80.8% proficiency rate on the test this year. We have a few more students to test and we look forward to that number increasing as they complete the test.
Congratulations to our Lady Pirates basketball team on their win in the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs on Friday night. The Lady Pirates will host Pamlico on Tuesday night in the third round game. We will announce the game time once it is confirmed. Plan on being in the gym and being loud in support of our girls on Tuesday night. Good luck ladies!
The end of the third nine weeks grading period is this Thursday. Perquimans County Schools will have teacher workdays on Friday March 8 and Monday March 11. This means that students will not have school on these days as teachers prepare for the final grading period of the school year.
Tuesday March 12 is an exciting day for PCHS! We will hold a Meet the Pirates event to officially open our track and soccer facility. Athletes from women's soccer as well as men's and women's track will be at this event so you can meet and encourage the outstanding young men and women representing our school and community in these sports. More details will be coming soon on this event but we hope to see a huge community presence at this event.
ACT boot camp will be held for all Juniors on March 12-14. The ACT test for all Juniors will be given the following week. This is an important test for all Juniors and the bootcamp is critical to their preparation and success. Parents we ask that you encourage your students to attend boot camp and give their best effort to prepare each day so they can maximize their potential when they take the test.
Congratulations to Kendra Graham recently attended Meredith College's Leadership Conference for high school juniors, where she was able to gain insight into her natural leadership style, the leadership styles of others, and how to strategically work with others who have different styles.
