Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Masonry Helper/Apprentice. This role presents an outstanding opportunity for someone eager to embark on a fulfilling career in masonry, offering hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals in the field. As a Masonry Helper/Apprentice, you will have the chance to develop essential skills while contributing to a diverse array of projects.
Responsibilities:
• Assist experienced masons with a variety of tasks, including mortar mixing, material transportation, and wall preparation
• Learn to proficiently utilize masonry tools and equipment under the guidance of seasoned professionals
• Execute assigned duties with precision and attention to detail to uphold our higher standard
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within work areas to ensure efficiency and safety
• Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project objectives in a timely manner
Requirements:
• A strong desire to learn and a solid work ethic are essential
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects in a construction environment

Attention Rising Juniors and Seniors- Interested in Earning High School Credit over the Summer
Tell me the requirements for a High School Internship:
Students must have begun the 11the or 12th grade.
Students must determine their internship interest area and seek out a business who may be willing to allow the student to complete the internship (check with family friends, etc. for contacts with companies that may consider allowing a student to intern).
The internship can be paid or unpaid. Most are unpaid.
Students cannot intern with their parent/guardian or family business.
Students may not intern in a job in which they are currently employed.
Wake County Public Schools maintains liability insurance for all students who participate in an
approved internship.
Internships may be taken in place of a class at school if the student is on track to graduate. Internships
are usually taken during 4th period.
The internship includes completion of 120 hours of work-based experiences for one high school credit
on a graded basis.
A maximum of two WCPSS internships are allowed per student.

NCDOT High School Intern Program
A year-round paid internship program that provides an opportunity for high school students to work one semester or consecutive semesters as interns in the various fields at the Department of Transportation. Students learn about the work performed at NCDOT and gain valuable exposure.
Through this continuous structured program, students will gain exposure to a variety of opportunities in professional work experience that connect classroom experiences and potential career choices within NCDOT. The High School Internship Program provides students with professional work experience that connects their classroom experiences and potential career choices.
Interns work directly with NCDOT hiring managers to customize their High School Internship experience. They will have the opportunity to participate in meetings, educational tours and other activities designed to broaden their perspective of public service and state government. There are numerous internship positions available at various NCDOT division & units located throughout North Carolina.

• Must be at least 16 years old at the time of employment

Boston University Summer Programs for High School Students

Clemson University Summer Scholars
This is an on-campus, residential summer experience for academically gifted middle and high school students. Students take a course of interest with a university instructor and study that subject through hands-on learning, experiments, lectures and sometimes even field trips. In the afternoons/evenings, scholars have the opportunity to tour and explore campus, speak with representatives from Admissions and the Calhoun Honors College.
Cornell University Summer College
Summer College Programs for High School Students offer talented high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to study at Cornell for two, three, or six weeks; earn an average of three to six college credits; take college courses with leading Cornell faculty members; explore careers and majors; attend admissions workshops; and much more.
This eight-week program will give participants who are interested in science and medicine real hands-on experience in research methodology and writing. Participants are placed in teams and matched with Duke faculty mentors to work on an original, hypothesis-driven project, originating as a one-page summary and culminating in a complete research paper. A goal of the program is to have every participant qualify for co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscript related to their team’s project.
The Emory Pre-College Program is a summer academic program for high school students. It gives college-bound rising juniors and rising seniors an exciting glimpse of academic and residential life at a top-ranked national university.

National Youth Science Academy
The NYSCamp is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program hosted in West Virginia. Students will have an opportunity to conduct research at the nearby Green Bank Observatory and to explore the surrounding Monongahela National Forest through backpacking, mountain biking, caving, rock climbing, and kayaking.
NC School of Science and Math Summer Accelerator Program
Accelerator courses for 10th - 12th graders are conducted over three weeks. The first two weeks of each course take place virtually,at the student's own pace. The third week of each course takes place on campus, either in Durham or Brevard, NC.
NC State College of Engineering Summer Camp
Each summer, the College of Engineering at NC State University offers rising 9th and 10th grade high school students the opportunity to experience engineering at NC State. They offer multidisciplinary week-long day camps that provides an experience into how engineers solve problems.
NC State Department of Music Technology Camp
Designed for high school students with an interest in the intersections between music, engineering and computers, the Music Technology Camp introduces students to audio engineering and digital music composition through experiential learning.
Design Camp is a multi-discipline pre-college design program organized by the NC State Design Lab for high school and middle school students. Held each summer, Design Camp informs students about the study of design and raises awareness of the impact of design on all aspects of our everyday lives. The design thinking skills and creative experience gained can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.
NC State’s annual VetCAMP is a 5 day summer camp hosted by the Veterinary Professional Advising Center (VetPAC) at North Carolina State University. Since 2011, this camp has been educating students about careers in veterinary medicine and the various opportunities within the field.
